I worked at Apple full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    -Benefits
    -Opportunities for growth
    -Strong company culture
    -Talented and motivated colleagues
    -Trust in C-level leadership
-Emphasis on human rights and environmental progress

    Cons

-Extremely demanding workload with tight deadlines; prepare to feel overwhelmed for months at a time
-Management makes it feel hard to take earned vacation of more than 1 week without at least 3-4 months' notice
-Often hard to get resources you need (human resources, hardware, software tools)
-Slackers who have been at Apple too long to get fired will make your life harder

    Advice to Management

Burnout is widespread but can be mediated with more resources being made available and more positive attitude from management toward being able to take longer vacations. (1-2 days off here and there don't really prevent against burnout) Recognize when teams need more human investment and let them make new hires.

I have been working at Apple part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The interactions are great. You can learn from everyone, coworkers and customers. Management will support your decisions to help people out.
The team is usually very social and caring.
    Inventory is a breeze.
You feel good after a day's work here.

    Cons

It can be incredibly challenging dealing with the masses of people in a sometimes crowded space.
It's hard to have certain conversations with difficult clients.
Every situation is different which can lead to frustration.
Sometimes it's hard to find supplies in appointments.

    Advice to Management

Make sure there are enough supplies behind the bar so that we aren't fighting for something as simple as a lightning cable.
Continue to encourage feedback, it drives the culture.

I worked at Apple (Less than a year)

    Pros

Apple is a wonderful place to work, full of interesting and smart people. It's challenging, but well paid and work balance is great. I worked in two orgs.

    Cons

Apple HR is the worst HR I've met in my career: they have no problems lying and are generally unprofessional if not borderline rude.
After 6 years working at Apple, when I gave my notice, they walked me out of the door without much of a thank you and ended my health insurance coverage straight away. This is petty, unprofessional and borderline evil.
I don't recommend anyone to work Apple, the risks are too big compared to the rewards.

    Advice to Management

Work on your HR, people are your resource and the way you treat your people is unprofessional.

I have been working at Apple full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

A huge emphasis on innovation and doing things the right way at the top of the company.

    Cons

Sometimes the directions of the stores and markets diverges from what the corporate level says.

    Advice to Management

Remember the reason you're in business and what consumers really come to Apple for. The crazy high level of customer service and less emphasis on sales was what set Apple apart.

I worked at Apple full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    * Smartest and most passionate people you may ever work with.
    * Things sometimes magically get done when many of your peers care about what they do.
    * You will grow through exposure to cutting edge ideas and through adversity.
    * Under healthy leadership, your creativity can thrive and you can live up to your potential.
    * There is always a secret new hot thing some group in your division is working on.

    Cons

    * Sometimes your secret project never sees the light of day, and you can't talk about your work because of NDAs/secrecy.
    * Not all in leadership are great to work for. Some micro-manage or are fearful in ways that can ruin a team experience.
    * Your peers will have strong opinions and argue intelligently for them. Don't take it personally, be open to being wrong, pick your battles. Challenge your peers respectfully if you want to win them over.
    * It can be hard to shine brightly among so many stars--you must consistently exceed expectations to get the best compensation increases, bonuses, or promotions.
    * When peers work extra and you don't, it may be hard to exceed expectations and advance. If you value family time, find a group where most employees keep fairly regular hours and tell you to "go home" when you stay late.

    Advice to Management

    * Your example and sacrifice are much appreciated.
    * If you are not listening to your peers and subordinates, you will miss something important--not everyone can make good decisions in an apparent vacuum like Steve Jobs.
