I have been working at Apple part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good reputation, lots of room to make your own decisions in appointments, some room for growth but typically capped at Genius. Schedule availability are flexible with school and kids

    Cons

Pay varies, new hires could start making more then you and your expected to train them.
Some leadership micromanage and some just don't care

    Advice to Management

Don't ask your tenured techs to train someone who makes more then you with zero experience and has no clue what to do- it's insulting and not okay.

I have been working at Apple (More than a year)

    Pros

The professional culture that is cultivated is one that is unapologetically honest when giving feedback.
The benefits are truly hard to compete with, and the drive for promotion within the company is always visible and present even to the basic Product Zone Specialists.
Many managers excel at cultivating skills and competencies that will serve you well in other work places. There is a clear balance between business and passion; a good mix.

    Cons

Do not plan on feeling very comfortable in the break room if you are conservatively leaning in your politics. While the team can be welcoming, it goes only as far as their prejudices go- learn your audience and share personal information sparingly if it involves your personal views.

    Advice to Management

Keep politics out of the morning Downloads. It alienates a lot of people and creates a divisive environment off the floor.

I have been working at Apple full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, fun place to work if you like the retail environment and want to be part of one of the biggest companies in the world.

    Cons

The company is going through a lot of changes at the retail level and some of the managers don't know how to handle said changes, making the processes and bringing down the moral of the employees from different teams, making them feel unappreciated and undervalued. In some cases it is obvious that they have their favorite employees, by promoting them without allowing more experienced co-workers to interview.

    Advice to Management

Be more transparent in the promotion processes and don't pretend to be transparent.

I have been working at Apple part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Access to huge discounts for Apple Products, Good health plan, stock plan, 401k, and vendor discounts. Tim Cook stands up to major political issues.

    Cons

Pay is low compared to other companies with similar roles. Educational reimbursement only for full time and if you're working 40 hrs company will not work with you on scheduling. Scheduling is horrible. No advanced training. No room for growth. Middle Managers brought in from competitors to help maintain service levels. lack of diversity. Apple diverts to spending money on a stupid self driving car instead of investing in front line employees.

    Advice to Management

I went to tech school, got hired, and have not learned or obtained any new certifications in the past 5 years. Other non skilled employees moving up the ladder for their ability to mesh the culture. Complete waste of career growth. I have friends whom their company sends them to seminars, and trainings, pays for their development. Give Part Time employees educational reimbursement with the expectation they will return to a more advanced opportunity. Culture is fun and hip, but there is a serious lack of "integrity" and values.
