I have been working at Apple full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Working at Apple means that the things you work on get into the hands of hundreds of millions of people, literally. It's a lot of pressure to get things right and drives one to do the best work of their lives. 2+ years later I'm still blown away by the talent and creativity of people I work with.

    Cons

It's a lot of work, teams are usually strapped for resources and under pressure to deliver on strict timelines leading to high stress and long hours at certain times during the year.

    Advice to Management

Keep fighting for "what's right". Renewable energy, civil liberties, working condition, everything. I couldn't be prouder of that aspect of the company, in the end it's about a lot more than profits and earnings.

I have been working at Apple full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people are awesome, the managers are exceptional. Love personal offices! The compensation and benefits are very competitive. Happy to be there.

    Cons

None. Not really have much to say here. Maybe more team building parties outside of office? Anyway, those are just nitpicking.

    Advice to Management

Stay as cool as you are now! We'll do much more things together!

    Pros

Apple has a great atmosphere, some really, really talented people and great culture. They also do some really cool products where it feels great to be part of the process. There is a great collective feeling of everyone striving for the same goal and very little internal competition. Other companies may have bigger salaries, but it's hard to beat them on benefits. If you get into the RSU vesting schedule for a few years, you are certain to think twice before leaving and watching your unvested stocks go up in smoke.
Work/life balance can vary, but it's very much up to the employee. However, when I had a death in the family, there was 100% support from my management and I never had to worry about deliverables or taking too much time off. It really felt like they were more concerned about me than my job. Experiences like that makes for loyal employees.

    Cons

With intense growth there will be hiring and promotional decisions where compromises are made because there simply isn't enough people available.
In the balance of quality (which stops shipping) and shipping (which can compromise quality) the company in recent years have slipped more to the shipping side, while under SJ it was securely on the quality side. Something to watch out for.

    Advice to Management

It's not enough to teach about what makes Apple Apple, you have to live it too.

I have been working at Apple full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I have been working in IS&T just over an year. When I joined the company I was pretty skeptical about this Apple wing following the reviews about it before but after the first year I am pretty darn proud to have actually joined it.

The people I work with are top performers and all ENGINEERS. We have the highest engineering strength in the IS&T Org. which was not the case a few years back. This has improved both employee motivation and deliverables. IS&T is now more engineering focussed than ever which is evident from the number of Apple employees in the team now.

... and the compensation is one thing at start that you expect good from company like Apple but to get an year end stock bonus, cash bonus and salary increase and all together is just top notch. Also earlier in the year all employees got BEATS headphones in the annual

Working hours are fine too, yes ! you work hard at times but thats just part of dev cycle. Nothing out of ordinary.

    Cons

No freebies, No Free Food - Yes we do get small parties here and there but I think Apple expects to spend out of your pocket to cover for it. They have stopped giving Apples in cafeteria :) ( Well that one is just due to drought )

    Advice to Management

Keep IS&T Engineering focussed and it would be the best in Apple in no time.

    I worked at Apple full-time

    Pros

Amazing co-workers, the best products in the industry, a shot at really chaining the world.

    Cons

The explosive growth over the last five years means that some of the middle management imports aren't really invested in the culture. Beware the big company 'experienced' managers who get brought in at the director level, it's a mixed bag.

    Advice to Management

Work harder on internal career path and promotion, Apple's greatest asset is it's employee culture of diligence and user first design, and that's subject to dilution.

    Pros

It seems to be good for resume. People believe that Apple is hot.

    Cons

    - Average Salary
    - poor bonus with no stocks
    - Obj C/Cocoa is only matters, don't even bother if you are HTML5/js person
    - Not much innovation in a lot of departments, especially IS&T
    - Very little diversity in a lot of departments

    Advice to Management

Pay more to engineers, better bonuses, and free food

I have been working at Apple full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Exciting work that impacts a LOT of people. Operates more like a (collection of) startups rather than a big company.

    Cons

Lot of work here, aggressive schedules.
