I worked at Apple Vacations full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fun work environment, great colleagues, supplier seminars, FAMS (so you get to see the product and some of the destinations you're selling), and Staff Specials (limited discounted travel).

    Cons

Low pay, a lot of time on the phone, constant monitoring, pressure to answer many calls, and above all, sell, sell, sell! Customer Service comes second, so many unhappy direct consumers and travel agents. Most of all, it is apparent that upper management does not care about the agents in the reservations center.

    Advice to Management

Respect and value your agents and other employees in the reservations center.

I have been working at Apple Vacations full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fun, honest people, limited discount on travel opps, cool meeting of finding out about travel, FAM trip opportunities.benefits

    Cons

Schedules and Pay is low and unorganized. Alot of unhappy people on the floor and also calling in. We try to express it and upper mngmnt doesn't care, just pressures to sell and "deal" with it while they get what they want. We sell thousands of dollars a day and are returned with pennies.

    Advice to Management

pay attention to the reservation agents and their demands. They will always tell the truth to their family and friends. Fix the schedule issues and pay

I worked at Apple Vacations full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great company to work for if you like to keep your head down and have no desire to grow your career. Some of the employees are nice to work with, especially the one's with alcohol problems in Ecommerce dept.

    Cons

Poor compensation and no performance bonus offered. Lack of support for professional development. Management has no moral compass. Unreasonable work/life balance expected.

    Pros

Learning about different destinations. Fun seminars every couple of weeks. Some travel benefits

    Cons

Very busy call center, especially during peak time like winter and with cancellations. Your phone calls constantly monitored by supervisors. Pressure to book and sell as much as possible

I worked at Apple Vacations full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fun group of people and vacation benefits. THAT'S IT!

    Cons

Disappointing! There is no potential for growth. Management does not recognize their hard working and dedicated employees. Minimal or close to minimal wage. Jobs are being outsourced to India. Employees are very unhappy and constantly looking for other work opportunities. People use company time as they please, i.e socializing.

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to your employees! There are some great people there that are getting frustrated with not being able to move up and are looking for opportunities outside the company. Offer competitive pay, benefits are great but you can't pay bills with a trip to Mexico.

    Pros

The travel benefits were good. However, you cannot put a vacation in the bank.

    Cons

Zero upward mobility. No one gets promoted or moved along, which in turn keeps the rest of the pool extremely stagnant.

    Advice to Management

Recognize your current players might have developed various strengths and allow them to move (even laterally) within the company to gain exposure. This would create many well rounded and happier team members.

I worked at Apple Vacations full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The coworkers you will meet is the best part of this employer.

    Cons

They pay you little to nothing only for you to sit and be disrespected by travel agents that are too lazy to do the work theirselves. Management doesn't get the front line responsibilities of answering the phone so they'll give you things to say that they wouldn't say. They want you on the phones 24/7. They don't care if weather is a factor even when the city was shut down due to inclement weather we were still responsible to get to work to book someone that is home a vacation. They don't care about your kids in the hospital none of that. They take the fun out of booking vacations with the micro managing. For quality assurance they only pull the ONE bad call that you've took out of the 200 calls you take a day and critique and give you a "do better" discussion. They do t reward their employees for anything. They have bs incentives that get taxed horribly anyway. It ain't worth it!! Supervisors are mostly crack addicts that think we didn't know. They all talk about each other and are miserable. They talk to you like you're incompetent like you're the one that's 40-50 years old that needs the job and working there for the rest of your life.

    Advice to Management

Pay more for the bs you put your employees through. Talk to employees with respect. And when the city is shut down due to inclement weather it is not our fault there should be snow days available. Treat the call center building the same way the "corporate" building (across the plaza) gets treated.

    Pros

    Great people to work with

    Cons

Management and corporate BS, policies and procedures are maddeningly frustrating. Morale is in negative digits. Literally EVERYONE is looking for another job. It's just not worth the hassle and you may have a walkout on your hands.

    Advice to Management

Quit the micro-management and stop treating your workers like children. The reservations workers, who are highly trained, feel under-valued. Moral is at an all-time low.
