    I worked at Applebee's part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I learned so much in the service industry that I was able to take with me as I finished with school and advanced in my career. Management was always on top of it, making sure that we knew how to read our guests which has done wonders for me in other fields as well.

    Cons

Very corporate and required some long hours.

    Advice to Management

    Thanks!!

I have been working at Applebee's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I love working with the people (Staff, and customers). Very good benefits, when doing contests to win prizes, football, baseball, hockey tickets are pretty common for winner's of competitions. The company outings are a lot of fun, as well. Bonus's are usually pretty good if staying on top of the budget.

    Cons

Making it harder to make bonus numbers, and becoming to concerned with the tiny stuff. 2 or 3 $ here or there instead of doing effective research, and new strategies to grow sales. They're more concerned with making everything cheaper to compete which makes the bottom line harder, as well as destroying the value they've been creating.

    I worked at Applebee's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great employees and managers. They really help work with you on your schedule depending on what store you're working at. The managers also really help you out when you need something instead of ignoring or leaving you on your own.

    Cons

A lot of teenagers who don't tip well gets old. Also it gets hard to have someone cover your shift.

    I worked at Applebee's full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I developed a lot of great relationships during my tenure as a manager there, both professionally and personally. I worked at several locations and had experiences ranging from okay to truly fantastic, depending on the staffs, but overall I thought the teams were made up of some truly good people. Upper management in the Minnesota region was fantastic while I was there, although it may have changed since.

    Cons

The organization is too big for its own good. A simple marketing or training question becomes days worth of emails and voicemails, trying to track down the person at the corporate office who can answer your question and fill you in on the protocol. It can be easy to get so wrapped up in the 'busy work' (audits and inspections, a ridiculously long review process for hourly associates, a burdensome self-evaluation, etc.) that you forget the job should truly be about food and guest service.

    Advice to Management

Get back to the basics. Remember what's important, get the right people in the right places, and sales should follow.
