I worked at Applied DNA Sciences full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

In terms of practical knowledge this place took someone fresh out of college who had no experience into a competent lab member due to a combination of many skills being learned and some good mentoring by a few of my co-workers. The skills translated well into research making me very detail oriented and resourceful. My QA/QC experience was something that set me apart from my peers and got me into my grad program of choice. The amount of time off and the paid holidays were a nice surprise for a first full time job. The QC department unless it was the end of the quarter or audit season was very relaxed.

    Cons

Not a lot of upward mobility. Though I was promoted from production to QC this was the exception not the rule and without another degree I saw no future in staying with the company for more than a few years.

I have been working at Applied DNA Sciences full-time

    Pros

The people here are really nice to work with. People try to help each other out as much as possible. Good health care benefits, 100% paid maternity leave for 8 weeks.

    Cons

Communication is lacking between departments which means things can get lost in translation. Limited sick and vacation time, only 5 day carry over per year.
