I have been working at Applied Materials full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Really interesting, technically complex problems, good work-life balance, good benefits, great team, standard big company culture, you can excel, grow and be promoted if you want to work hard, or you can sit by and coast at your level if that's more your style... both can be acceptable

    Cons

Cyclical semiconductor industry, difficult to work with customers and teammates overseas with incomplete problem statements or fuzzy project objectives,

    Advice to Management

Enable world-class innovation without just saying it, work less on coming up with new check boxes with administrative program cycles and hoops to jump through on exciting new projects, just fund and psychologically enable new prototypes and technologies. Invest more in the far future rather than protecting the existing customer base.

    Advice to Management

Success starts with your employees for the simple reason: human capital is what makes it all to work.

    Pros

The company focuses mainly on R&D, so it is a perfect place for tech savvy people who are interested in the semiconductor industry. You can expect a good work-life balance from the company just like many other Silicon valley companies

    Cons

The industry is cyclic, so an employee will experience the up and down swings of the industry.
