    Pros

-Relatively friendly to hiring new grads, so this is a good back-up option for your first job out of college. -The company is always expanding its capabilities and bringing on new processes, so if you'd like to 'step up' and take leadership where there is none, you can. -The poorly defined job roles allow you to wear many hats and perform multiple engineering functions, providing diverse experiences. -Friendly college...

    Cons

-Management loves to micromanage and pretend they're just a small company. A mom and pop medical supply shop with international distribution and a billion dollars in assets. -Management is bad at managing and embarks upon major multi-million dollar projects without a clear plan or realistic expectations. $15 million project with no defined project manager? That's fine, I'm sure things will just work themselves out eventually......

    Advice to Management

-Stop micromanaging. The group president probably has better things to do than approve/reject individual employees' requests for internet access. Also, employees shouldn't have to wait 6mo-1yr for internet approval either. It's 2019. -Start investing more money in employee retention. Hiring only new grads with a high turnover rate was fine for a stretch of early growth, but that model causes serious brain drain. The...

I have been working at Applied Medical full-time for less than a year

    Pros

They have a 24/7 gym and really nice facilities

    Cons

Management has no management skills, much less leadership skills. They tell you to do what they tell you to do because that's why they pay you. If you are happy to just do whatever they tell you to do without any goals of your own, then this is the place for you!

    Advice to Management

The company will continue to have high turnover if you do not have the right leadership and good managers to retain team members

I worked at Applied Medical part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Applied Medical is a great place to work because just about all of the people who work there are willing to help with whatever you need. They are big on developing your professional self rather than developing a certain product or process. There are a lot of young people within the company who really enjoy their work. It is a fast paced and collaborative workplace.

    Cons

    None to be concerned of.

I worked at Applied Medical full-time for more than a year

    Pros

-A good place for recent graduates to get experience. There are a lot of resources at the company to get your feet wet in the industry. -Great health insurance with low employee cost. -Great work culture. It's a good mix of work and play. My team goes out for lunch every Friday, and will occasionally plan weekend trips and events. -Good work/life balance. Hours are typically 8-5 and no one expects you to stay after...

    Cons

-Inexperienced middle management. Most are young and started their first jobs with this company. Middle management is not held accountable for any decisions made. When things go awry, the finger pointing typically lands at the individual engineers that wrote the protocols and reports, regardless of if they contributed to any decision making. Be prepared to defend yourself, even if management approved your documents. ...

    Advice to Management

There needs to be less of a "get it done" attitude. A lot of the issues I experienced could be prevented if engineering teams were given more time to develop their products/processes before release. Teams could really benefit from a knowledgeable and experienced engineer to lead, but the low compensation at this company drives most experience away. Good engineers are out there, but the company must be willing to offer...

    Pros

-None really. I did not learn a single thing that I could not have learned with google. Your career will not advance here

    Cons

-THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT QUALITY. They say they do but they do not. Most jobs are done quickly but not well. This leads to lots of issues with yields, equipment failure, preventative maintenance, documentation, etc. -They have lots of documentation that is WRONG. The company knows this but hides it and will make team members sidestep protocols/rules/regulations to make updates -Your middle manager will actively sabotage...

I worked at Applied Medical full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Vertically Integrated so you can learn everything from component to product manufacturing, full ownership of projects, engineers are young so it's easy to make friends at work, exposure with every single department, causal dress code, good work life balance (if you're not a manager), and RSM is a really nice area to work in.

    Cons

Low pay, terrible 401K, and middle management doesn't have a lot of support so you can either get a great manager or a manager who was forced to take on a team .

    Advice to Management

Applied Medical is a great company to work for as a new grad since you work on every single aspect of a project and you can gain exposure into the medical device industry. However, the pay is low (engineer I start off around 60-65k) compared to industry standards and the 401k is a joke (50% match up to 2% of your salary). There's no training for managers so some focus on career development and others are barely around....

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Applied Medical full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Start your career here if you cannot find job anywhere else. 8-5 job with little responsibility.

    Cons

The mid level management has no clue on what is being designed as there is lack of communication between software and Electrical teams. The management spend hours in useless meetings and blaming other groups. The CEO seems to be smart but again has no idea about the money being wasted in unwanted projects. The firing rate is high and innocent people are sacrificed to keep the mid management people employed and protected.

    Advice to Management

Conduct more surveys and explain to new team members about open door policy in person.
