I have been working at Applied Strategies (Less than a year)

    Pros

    -Fast-paced, but collaborative working environment
    -Leaders care about their employees
    -Interesting projects with global clients

    Cons

-With so much work, there's rarely a slow moment

    Pros

Talented peers who were great to work with
    Interesting work
    Company is reasonably transparent
    Company seems to be growing.

    Cons

Management/ leadership is poor to even hostile
No work life balance; a lot of uncompensated overtime.
Competitive environment vs. collaborative. Not the staff's fault, as this is driven by leadership
Little opportunity to demonstrate your own leadership and expertise on a project you are "leading." This is because leadership will not allow anyone else to make decisions in any capacity.

    Advice to Management

Remove executives from project management and give your consultants some breathing room. Provide training for new consultants so they have the tools they need. Give your employees real reward for their overtime - watch and limit their overtime to improve work-life balance.

    Pros

Not too many pluses. Benefits were okay.

    Cons

Agree with recent posts. Bad place to work. Poor leadership and spurs unhealthy competition. Long hours and management are critical, but not constructively critical. Look elsewhere.

    Pros

Easy commute- it is next to the 101 freeway. We get gifts (in place of $ mind you). Some nearby food places and taco trucks.

    Cons

Very hostile environment from those in power. They demonstrate extreme favoritism and have major control issues at every turn. There seems to always be an incessant need to make demonstrations of power and mess with peoples' heads. They ask you to do a lot of work outside of your job description and the consultants who innocently are trying to gain experience are bullwhipped at every turn.

    Advice to Management

Fire yourselves. Get an outside company to handle the management and dealing with people, because you seem to let your emotions and self interest get in the way of producing a nice to semi decent work environment.
