I worked at Applied Value as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Was immediately put on a case and treated like a full time analyst. Heavy emphasis on responsibility set in place early on, but mentors are very understanding and help you develop quickly. The work environment is great and having a healthy/strong culture is very important to the firm.

    Cons

Some work nights can be longer, but nothing that is too much to handle.

    Pros

AV is a boutique management consulting firm, which means everybody gets plenty of responsibility very early on. This is in part because of the size of the company, but also because of the culture. There is an overall go-getter attitude at AV, which can be very empowering, even at the beginning of your career.

This also promotes a fast-track career for many of the consultants, reaching manager levels just 3-4 years after joining. - Consultants at AV tend to stay for longer periods of time than at typical firms due to good culture, benefits, etc.

Work culture is great - friendly coworkers and respectful managers. There is a lot of trust within the firm, which creates a very unique work environment. People often go out together during the weekends and weeknights.

Unlike other firms, you are encouraged to take all of your vacation days every year.

    Cons

Large amountd of responsibility can be somewhat paralyzing if you're not used to that. There is no formal training program, which has never been a problem, but can intimidate new hires. That said, you are not left alone to drown.

As with any consulting firm, travel can be taxing on personal life.
