Pros
Working from home. Management is flexible. Most calls are friendly. Low-stress duties. They do not tolerate racism. Ability to shift swap.
Cons
Pay varies and is lower than averaged here and there are no raises. The benefits are overpriced and if you have a family your check will not cover medical. No growth potential. You will often work overtime due to call volume.

Terrible place to work
Feb 19, 2021 - Interviewer in Boca Raton, FLRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Able to work from home
Cons
Unable to change your schedule. Management doesn’t hear your side.
- Current Employee★★★★★
Pros
First-tier managers are nice to work with. There is very little stress involved in the job. Rarely have to deal with angry callers. It's steady work and the schedule is somewhat flexible, if you can find coworkers to trade or pick up hours for you.
Cons
Although they advertise that they offer "performance-based pay", this is false. Your pay will be determined by call volume and whether your schedule coincides with busy times. They allow you to shut off your phone availability during calls, then turn it back on, and this will let you work over 29 (part time) or 40 (full time) weekly hour limits. Basically, they are getting a lot of overtime out of people without having to pay more money. If your shift call volume is low, you will at least make whatever minimum wage is in your state. That being said, it's pretty hard to live off the minimum wage. When it's very busy you can make good money. Your only contacts and communication will be with your immediate supervisor team. There is no team-based culture in the company. There will be no promotions and no raises, apparently ever. This job is not hard, but you must deliver perfect customer service, no documentation mistakes, etc. Health insurance/benefits offered are insultingly expensive. Nobody who works at this company could realistically afford them. No paid time off, no paid vacation, no paid personal days. 10 unpaid days per year.

Related to your comments about compensation and call volumes, this year, we’re focused on rolling initiatives to address these two areas. Thank you again for everything you do for us, and thanks for being with Apptical.

Apptical - Wonderful Work From Home Company
Dec 6, 2016 - Telephone Interviewer in Cleveland, OHRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Apptical is a great choice for a work from home company. The benefits of working from home especially with Apptical are numerous... no commute, decent pay, no sales or cold calling, supervisors are always easily available and helpful, constant contact/support available with coworkers, great team mentality. In addition there is available continuous training and information updates to increase/stay up to date with customer service skills needed to successfully care for clients. It has truly been a pleasure and blessing to work for this company, I recommend it to everyone I know who is looking for a reliable, trustworthy, stable work from home company.
Cons
Can be repetitive/routine, same types of calls yet no call is the exactly the same. You are at home, so you don't get the personal interactions one would in an office environment. It is a fair but firm company...you are expected not to punch in late or out early, and to cover your shifts if needing to be off (with prior supervisor approval).

One of the best work from home jobs I've ever had!
Oct 9, 2015 - Interviewer in Raleigh, NCRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The training is very thorough - you'll go through group training as well as individual training where the trainer will be on the phone with you during your first few calls. The staff really cares about you, and if you work hard, they will be wiling to help you if you have problems. Most of the agents know what they're doing and will prepare their clients for the interview.
Cons
Since you're talking to older people, sometimes you'll have to speak louder or slower than normal (you're actually encouraged to speak slow on all your calls so everyone can understand you - so if you're a fast talker you'll have to work on slowing your pace down). Also sometimes you'll run into rude agents, or agents who don't know what product they're calling for - you're not allowed to tell them the products, and you're limited in what you can say to them to get the correct product name from them. However this is a "fact of life" of being an interviewer, and it's something you'll get used to handling over time. Also the benefits could be better - Apptical only started offering benefits to their employees in the last few years, and if you want to take advantage of them they're very expensive. My suggestion is if you've already got great benefits through your spouse, stick with those.

Setting the standard for work at home.
Dec 6, 2016 - Anonymous Employee in Boca Raton, FLRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I've worked for many 'work at home' opportunities. This is one of the few that are legitimate and even fewer that pay benefits, comply with labor and tax laws and where you are an actual employee, not an independent contractor. You are part of a team atmosphere and like a relay team member must always be ready to pick up the baton, running your part as the individual bringing reward to the team. You will be trained on a continuous basis. Quarterly staff meetings keep everyone informed and management is very communicative and inclusive.
Cons
Heavy call times can get intense. Calls are legal recordings - as a result, sometimes affidavits are required. Technology based job. Strong bandwidth, reliable high-speed internet connection and reliable computer equipment / telephone lines required.

Thanks for taking the time to submit your thoughts. We're glad you're happy with the benefits Apptical is providing to its employees and with our collaborative team environment that Apptical management worked hard to make part of its culture. When it comes to intensity as the result of heavy call times, we have been looking into product solutions that will enable more effective management of volumes. We look forward to hearing how you feel about the progress in this area, and thanks again for leaving this review.

Pros
Working from home is awesome of course, but keep in mind you need to have a noise free background and a landline phone. The supervisors are so helpful and friendly with any questions or concerns you may have. The pay is pretty decent considering the amount of actual work you do and the fact that you're working from home. Most employees have a M-F schedule which is nice also. They offer life insurance (after 90 days) , 401k, and opportunity to promote within.
Cons
You cannot change your schedule until you have been employed for one year, so if you aren't happy with the schedule you agreed to, you'll need to stick it out for a year at least. They offer 10 UNPAID vacation/sick days per year, and if you have someone to cover your shift, it will not count against one of the 10 unpaid days which is nice. Sometimes your client's calls will drop because they are using cell phones (hence why you need to have a landline so you are not dropping calls) and this can be frustrating.
