I have been working at Apria Healthcare

    Pros

Great company to work for. I have been here 17 years thru the good and the bad times. This company has managed to keep itself going thru the monumental industry changes.

    Cons

I do not really have anything negative to say, but if I had to chose something. I would say the health benefits are expensive

I have been working at Apria Healthcare full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Corporate violates the law quite a bit so you may get paid out a settlement.

    Cons

Lack of substantial training and mentorship; All courses are online and contain dated material. Management doesn't understand the human element of the business. Computer systems and warehouse inventory is outdated. Instead of investing in new technology to streamline processes, management pushed for salary employees to stay longer and cover the gaps. Hence why turnover in the logistics department is high. Apria is not patient focus at all. Lack of corporate leadership. Local branches are floating in space being pelted by asteroids with no support. $5,000 deductible for health insurance? Who thought that was a great idea? Constantly on call and barely compensated for it. Called for silly questions because everyone is afraid to make decisions. Apria becomes a team sport when sales is involved. Other than that you're on your own.

    Advice to Management

Apria is a medical distribution company. Invest in logistics department and you will not have as many customer service issues. Stop dumping unnecessary administrative tasks on the logistics. Management act your age and experience. Get rid of the Riverside LCE. Most unprofessional and soft group of employees. Bring back local customer service. Believe it or not the outsourced India and Philippine staff are more professional and easier to talk to than your stay at home staff

    Pros

A paycheck albeit lower than you're likely to make elsewhere

    Cons

So many... Culture of motivate by threats of corrective action or loss of employment Held accountable to inaccurate data Misplaced accountability or none for the responsible "silo" No salary increase for managers in years just "bonus opportunities" that change at their whim. Increased responsibility due to mass layoffs yet no compensation adjustment. There are more but you get the point.

    Former Employee - Branch Manager

I worked at Apria Healthcare full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Pay is top in industry. Strong logistics and delivery system. Large contracted business with Insurance companies and Medicare. Low cost provider. Great place to learn.

    Cons

Poor service provider. Call Center intake lacks personal local touch. Major Billing issues 2011-2013. First moved over seas and then consolidated. Information flows top down and feedback not welcomed back upward. Not a sales or service friendly company. Not an employee friendly environment. It is a sink or swim management style.

    Advice to Management

Improve focus on service, sales and billing. Encourage creativity in locating new revenue streams in local markets. Strive for high quality service along with being the lowest cost provider.

I worked at Apria Healthcare for less than a year

    Pros

There was always assistance and teamwork from other branches.

    Cons

Revenue management is horrible with this company and the computer systems used are antiquated and don't all speak to one another. Workload is always more than what is realistic and the pay was not competitive with competitors.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the call centers, upgrade your systems, improve your revenue management.
