I have been working at Apria Healthcare full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Co-workers, work from home options, good location, flex schedule options, the actual job, lots of paid time off, paid holidays.

    Cons

No room for growth, management issues, pay issues, excessive micromanaging where it isn't necessary, inability to use paid time off without a two week notice (includes sick time), inadequate training, terrible benefits.

    Pros

I am thinking hard about any pros to working at Apria Healthcare. I can only come up with the relationships made with the outside clients. If you do not want a life outside of Apria, then this is the job for you!

    Cons

This company does not value their employees. Forget about work life balance, you will be on call nights and weekends without being paid for it. The compensation and benefits are laughable.

    Advice to Management

Please put your employees first. Many long term employees have not had raises in over 5 years. The base salary for any of the sales people is pathetic, you want them to pay for in services, parking and tolls and take months to pay expenses back. Corporate cards are appropriate for the sales team. A high limit is not necessary. The mileage reimbursement needs to be updated, the IRS reimbursement is .56/mile. Apria is like a pimp for its core products. They expect employees to be on call nights and weekends which you are not paid for. Other sales corporations properly compensate employees and appreciate hard work. Why would someone work hard to make COE and then have the trip taken from them. I could go on and on, but I am just thankful I am out of there.

I worked at Apria Healthcare full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Opportunity to work from home

    Cons

They forced me to accept an expanded role that I had no interest in. They were constantly cutting staff asked blaming Medicare funding cuts. Started to become more interested in helping top management increase their salaries/bonuses than in providing quality care for customers.

    Advice to Management

Trim the fat at the top of the pay scale so that the little guys who actually assist the customers can make a decent living when busting their butts for you. Listen more closely to employee suggestions... they are sometimes more intelligent than you give them credit for.

    Pros

Assisting patients through their medical equipment needs and wants. Help patients to understand their medical insurance coverage.

    Cons

Management support not there. Only wants numbers to fluff up their bonus.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your honest, dedicated workers and listen to what they suggest.

I worked at Apria Healthcare full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Tasks were easy, lots of places for lateral movement if you didn't like your department

    Cons

strict time schedule (breaks/lunch/bathroom) that were sometimes difficult to follow if assisting a customer, no room for growth, required overtime at last minute often, and things changed so often that shift bid often became an issue because it was measured of different things then what we were told.

    Pros

Friendships. The kind you would make in high stress places. Like prison. Or on an island after a plane crash.

    Cons

Everything. Tough to make a specific call here.

    Advice to Management

    Blackstone. Call me.

    Pros

Great vacation package some management cares ok pay. Work from home if you are good enough.

    Cons

You take 2 steps forward to advance then poof positions are disolved and you are back to square one. Shift bidding is not for everyone and depends on your time zone. You may or may not get a raise.

    Advice to Management

Don't punish the employees who work hard. Promote them and maybe they would stay.

I worked at Apria Healthcare full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I do not believe there are any pros

    Cons

Horrible place to work, I was in the customer service department. Extremely stressful, taking hundreds of calls while being screamed at by my team lead. Very poor training and very little encouragement. Blamed for other employees mistakes when you were covering your own job and theirs.

    Advice to Management

Fire current management and hire people who are equipped emotionally to lead others.
