I worked at Aptive Environmental full-time

    Pros

The manager I had was one of the best I've ever had, very understanding but firm in what needed to be accomplished.

    Cons

If you aren't familiar with dealing with upset customers it might take some getting used to. Also being in an environment constantly near other co-workers might be an issue if you're not used to that either.

I worked at Aptive Environmental full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They will hire you if you have a pulse, meaning that they're so desperate for you, they will never fire you unless you willfully do something to sabotage your job. Tons of opportunity to collect overtime. Company truck and they pay for gas, which is amazing if you don't yet own a car. It is definitely a learning experience and you will learn to deal with the most demanding customers. This experience will definitely pay off in other roles you move to, inside or outside the company.

    Cons

Only $11/hr in spite of being extremely physically demanding and taxing on your personal life. Don't expect to have a life. Over time is fine, but they expect 10 hours a day, 6 days a week. 50 hours is one thing, but 60 is another. You have to constantly fix problems with customers due to salesmen over selling or straight up lying to close a sale. There's little mobility. One coworker, who was the best service professional they had got his first promotion after several years. You'd think it'd be faster when the average job retention was about 3 months. That's another thing: Revolving door! And it's not because people are fired.

    Advice to Management

Put in more controls to prevent salesmen from lying to customers. Offer better incentives to service guys for the sake of retention. Guys who stay should be compensated better than guys who leave after one or two months (as most do). Better retention=better skill=happier customers=long term success.

I worked at Aptive Environmental full-time

    Pros

You get a company vehicle with a gas card. No room for growth

    Cons

This company routinely lies to the customers and the employees. The office will blame their mistakes on the service pro and let you deal with the upset customer in person. They will change your route several times a day and have you driving over 100miles a day with poorly constructed routes. They will schedule your route all over God's creation one day only to have you doing stops in the same area as the day before. The salesmen will promise complete lies to the customer to get the sale and then let the service pro break the bad news to the customer. They will "accidentally" mess up your overtime pay on a consistent basis and like to you about why it got messed up. If you work over 80 hours everything after that is supposed to be time and a half. They don't care about the employee or the customer they only care about the money

    Advice to Management

Make routes that make sense. Listen to the guys on the ground. Stop scheduling 20-25 stops a day. Train the sales people on the actual products and services provided. Maybe then your turnover won't be laughable.

I worked at Aptive Environmental full-time

    Pros

Great training manuals and videos. Have a huge earning potential.

    Cons

Any sales commission they don’t pay you they keep for themselves. So some guys work their butts off the whole summer and the manager still makes more off of their sales than they did. Also, the aptive pest service really isn’t that good. The first service usually is incredible but subsequent services leave a lot of customers unhappy.

I worked at Aptive Environmental full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Good team culture
    - Training is priority
    - Great HQ building
    - They take care of their employees IF they work their butt off

    Cons

    - They’ll milk you for every penny you owe them
    - Micromanaging to the tenth power
    - Lists reps as “independent contractors” but treats them like a million dollar corporation treats employees
    - Money comes before everything
    - If you don’t work harder than you usually would, you’ll waste your summer. Plain and simple
    - Expect 60+ hour work weeks

    Advice to Management

Ease up on the micromanaging. There’s nothing worse than being an independent contractor with little to no independence.
