I have been working at Apto full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Take it from me, someone who's been here a while. Things are fine, despite the negative reviews. Yeah, the pie might be shrinking, but that just means I've got more real estate (heh) to claim. To all those who just lost their jobs: you deserved this. Apto was too big. Now we're really moving towards what Goldilocks would call "just right." We have a ways to go to profitability, but we're continuing to reduce costs...

    Cons

It's like no one understands that these things are NORMAL in a startup. The constant fear and anxiety (which should be a force for good) seems to make everyone into a paranoid weirdo. At lunch, people are always gossiping about "who's going to quit next" when they should be framing it like "who do we need to eliminate next?" It's sad how many people are losing focus on this exciting journey to burn rate zero. Be grateful...

I worked at Apto full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Free lunch every Wednesday - Industry with potential and no company currently dominating

    Cons

    - The biggest problem the company has is understanding the space it's in, and how to actually create a vision. During my time, we have created software that was envisioned by management and the product team, and we have yet to create software people will actually use. - There is no data to support their new ideas, they are just making stuff up as they go. - The company is using Salesforce as it's backbone. It just doesn't...

I have been working at Apto full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Working at Apto has been one of the most challenging, yet most rewarding experiences of my career. In reading previous reviews, I'm shocked at how many people joined a young startup, were met with challenges, and decided that those challenges suggested that 'the ship is sinking'. The ship isn't sinking, folks - we just happen to be attempting to do something that has never been done before. We sell technology to an...

    Cons

-Career progression is blurry. You've gotta pave your own path and in some cases, design your own promotion. -We're approaching a strategic 'event' which will most likely be a positive thing for the business, but there's some uncertainty about what our direction/product might look like a year from today vs. now. Not sure if that's a 'con' but something to be considered. -We're lean, and we lack some process. You've...

    Advice to Management

Stay transparent. Take care of your people. Keep it light/fun. Keep reminding employees of 'the bigger picture'. We're better at this game than most of our competition, and that's easy to forget when you're in the thick of it...

I have been working at Apto full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Apto has been an exciting and innovative company to grow with over the past couple years. I have learned a great deal not only in my own function, but also working with other departments through various projects and day to day interactions. It is an extremely collaborative culture, and the executive team's transparency allows everyone in the company to understand how they are directly impacting the company's growth and...

    Cons

Start-up growing pains - product shifts can be frustrating, but also good learning experiences about what didn't work and has helped guide where our product is now.

    Advice to Management

Keep fostering a transparent and collaborative culture. The vision and goals we are working toward are very motivating, if everyone does their part we are on a great trajectory and excited to see Apto reach new heights.

I have been working at Apto full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Warm office environment and great people. The CEO is someone you'd spend a career working for. I'm on the Sales team. The quotas are attainable and motivating. You are given the autonomy to create your own day without someone breathing down your neck or micro-managing you. The product is capable and it is solving a very important problem for the customer which makes it better to sell. The sales cycle is also relatively...

    Cons

The last 12 months, engineering and product have underperformed. There has been a change in personnel, and we are now releasing new features and versions that are field tested with customers. Also, it's a startup, so you need to be comfortable with uncertainty. This has the hidden benefit of providing a lot of opportunity for the right person who wants to apply themself.

    Advice to Management

Continue being honest and direct with your employees.

I have been working at Apto full-time for more than a year

    Pros

-Recently weeded out some dead weight within the company -Catered lunches -Aggressive road map with a motivated leadership team -Growth opportunities -Fantastic culture with like-minded individuals

    Cons

-Typical growing pains for any tech start up (product fluctuation, turnover, etc)

    Advice to Management

Continue on with the tough cuts. It's never easy to let go of employees who have built relationships within the company. However, it's crucial the employees that remain are motivated and willing to put in the work necessary to elevate the company.

I have been working at Apto full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - I have been working at Apto for more than a year and have found my overall experience with the company challenging (in a productive way), collaborative and fun. As you can gather from recent reviews, a handful of employees were let go for good reason. As an adult in the working world, you must be held accountable and get the job you were hired to get done. Unfortunately, those things were not happening. I am excited...

    Cons

    - Holding people account and setting appropriate metrics has been a struggle. I think this is getting better and starting to be addressed but can be frustrating at times. - This is a true start up. Be ready for constant change. It can make the job challenging but also keeps you on your toes.

    Advice to Management

If people aren't willing to be open minded, work together and be productive make it known to them.

I have been working at Apto full-time

    Pros

-Recently moved on from people who weren't holding up their end of the bargain. -Apto provides a great quality of life for those who are truly invested in their job -Like-minded individuals leftover to help push forward an era that couldn't meet the needs of its target market

    Cons

    - A lot of miscalculations have put the company in a difficult place, so its a grind, day in and day out.

    Advice to Management

Continue to get rid of the people who seek to keep their work simple. A customer who has an issue with their account (no matter the size) is better than a customer who does not use the product.

I have been working at Apto full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The best people hired have been leaving for well over a year. Thankfully if you worked here in that time, you have a great network that wants to help you escape this sinking ship.

    Cons

Picture a company that can’t get funding, can’t secure a line of credit, and then lays off 20% of its workforce after changing goals on them every quarter for “underperforming.” That same organization then stops hiring but cares enough to write positive reviews here. Obvious damage control. Got that image? That’s Apto. Current employees like me can see this and several will quit with zero notice.

    Advice to Management

The remaining employees who’re smart are looking to abandon ship. Polish your resume because you’ll need to weasel your way into a C-level position somewhere soon.

I worked at Apto full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Had you asked me a year ago if I would recommend Apto the answer would have probably been a resounding "yes". Today you couldn't pay me an above market salary to work there. I would say that Apto is about to repeat history again after churning through multiple engineering/sales/support departments. This will probably be the fourth iteration. Oh. As for pros I guess you get free lunch on Weds.

    Cons

As some of the recent reviews go one can surmise that there were multiple pockets of opinions in the company. Most people optimized for what individually made them successful versus where the company had to actually put investment in. I think most departments didn't truly understand the limitations of the original product that was built (except maybe CS to a degree). This is where the customer pains came in. Too many...
