I worked at Aptoide full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very nice talented team working together and always trying to help each other.
Chance to work in an exciting product and global market landscape.
Very international project and great team culture.

    Cons

C-level needs to learn to rely more on their leadership team to be able to move faster and be more agile when it comes to decision making.
Lack of transparency when it comes to decision making and setting company's structure.
Inefficient structure in place to move towards product and company business goals.
Lack of regard for Personal Development as there is no HR plan in place to retain talent or to have an efficient performance review system.

    Advice to Management

The success of the company will rely on your team and retaining company's talent. You need to develop trust and motivation on your team as the success of the company relies on that. If you start sharing more details about company goals and products strategy, taking feedback from managers and from the teams seriously and structuring the company efficiently towards those set goals, you'll manage to keep people onboard and motivated, what will ensure Aptoide's future success.

    Pros

The environment is amazing. The people and the the installations are great.
    Young spirit everywhere.

    Cons

Although you have a lot of visibility with the head of the company, they won't really take into acount your proposals.

    Advice to Management

Take the risk in your employees' ideas. That's why you hired them.

I worked at Aptoide full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The team I worked (non-tech) with was really cool people, open to new ideas and very collaborative. Salaries are above average.

    Cons

Too much power to developers, who whenever asked to do something they didn't want to, dropped the 'aks the founder' card. Lack of directions in terms of goals. HR management was a joke. Out of nowhere, they fired like 10% of the company and in a few months were hiring new people to do the same jobs.

    Advice to Management

Non-tech teams should get more attention and guidance.

I worked at Aptoide full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very diverse team in terms of backgrounds, skills, culture and experience.

Extremely dynamic and vibrant community of Aptoide users.

Very interesting technological and business challenges.

    Cons

All hands on deck is taken to the extreme. People are asked to do tasks for which they've had no training, experience or even interest.

    Non existing knowledge management.

Tense work environment reinforced by top management and the HR practices.

Entire teams made up of multiple managers with a single individual doing operational tasks.

    High employee turnover.

    Advice to Management

    Reduce micromanagement.

Empower middle managers and make more efforts to retain the most productive operatives.

Establish clear performance reviews and goals for individuals and teams.

Don't reinvent the wheel. Many internal processes don't take into account standard industry practices.

    Pros

Great people, great workplace, challenging in terms of user numbers and world wide usage

    Cons

No clear and defined roadmaps, too little empowerment for developers to take decisions

    Advice to Management

Less micromanagement, needs clear roadmaps at least medium to long term...

I worked at Aptoide full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Good fringe benefits - very good health insurance and then the typical package: phone + fruit in the office.
    - Talented individuals, people from differente cultures and backgrounds. A good international environment.
    - Good salary

    Cons

    - Poor communication strategy within the company. Decisions are made and unmade at light speed and often communicated on spot, when communicated at all.
    - Noxious culture. Apart from good individuals that you meet there, you won't find the typical helpful environment, but instead an "every man for himself" approach.
    - The IT / Tech area is a very closed branch of the company, often unwilling to communicate and pair up with the business side to evolve and work on the company strategy.
    - The founders pretty much decide everything, so there's not much room for Leads, teams leaders and management to suggest or implement their ideas. They micromanage and even decide where employees will seat.
    - No career path designed or implemented. People tend to have a very narrow autonomy and responsibility, which is kind of strange considering you're working for a startup. This, again, is caused by founders that tend to run the company the same way you run a class from the 7th grade, you do as they tell you to and no more.

    Advice to Management

Middle management will help you work closer to people. They will allow you to have more time to think about the strategy for the company as a whole, without hurting the people management and growth. Accept other people's idea and that you don't have answers to every question.

Trust the talented people you decide to hire. It was your decision to have them onboard, it's your responsibility to manage them, and not micromanage.

    I worked at Aptoide full-time

    Pros

You get the chance to work with a very young and dynamic team.

The compensations are usually above average and you get benefits such as health insurance and a smartphone.

    There's a very fair work/life balance.

    Cons

There is no proper management skills across the company and it still relies a lot on the feedback of the top management instead of trusting middle management.

Small and big accomplishments aren't celebrated.

There's not a lot of humanity in the company, although this is a very small company employees are just numbers to the management.

You don't have any Personal Development Plan within the company and the only focus of the Human Resources team is to hire people, without any strategy whatsoever, rather than maintain talent.

    Advice to Management

The success of the company will always rely on the people that are part of the company and their motivation - if you take care of people and work to maintain talent you'll be surprised how much success the company can achieve

    Nice work-life balance, friendly environment.

    Cons

Micro management doesn't allow people to grow.
Genereally speaking, no organization in task distribution / long term planning.
Disregard for what the employees want to do with their careers.

    Advice to Management

    Don't micromanage.
