I worked at Aquarium of the Pacific full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Learning about all the behind-the-scenes work.
Great HR department, really takes care of staff and provides good benefits.

    Cons

Some of the admin offices are off-site and creates a bit of a disconnect between departments.

    Advice to Management

Work on organization communications to not have a disconnect between the staff on-site and off-site (at Catalina Landing)

I worked at Aquarium of the Pacific part-time

    Pros

Flexible with schedule, during the summer you will definitely get your hours, overall positive atmosphere.

    Cons

No room for growth unless someone randomly quits or is fired, lots of favoritism, open all major holidays except for Christmas day.

I worked at Aquarium of the Pacific (Less than a year)

    Pros

Staff was very friendly and helpful.

    Cons

There were times when events happened at the Aquarium where the staff had to learn the day of were going on-which was a lack of communication. Training was not uniform and sometimes training was not up to par with managements expectations. During probationary period any form of complaint on guests part might get you into deep trouble.

    Advice to Management

Please communicate with the staff especially when it comes to special events and not just say, "read the insert in the map." Also, restructure the training in order for it to reflect the standards you want including making it uniform for all trainers to train the same material and cover all things.

    Pros

The people who already work there are very helpful and kind to you, everyone is very laid back, but gets their work done.

    Cons

The only con would be the pay as there isn't much wiggle room in your check because the higher up positions are locked in anyways, but it's okay as the chemistry between everyone is great anyways.
