- "Very, very immature company and product in desperate need of experienced staff, clear direction, and capable leadership." (in 3 reviews)

Pros
Engaged teams dedicated to making a difference
Cons
A lot of remote hiring makes it harder to get to know colleagues as well as you might in the office.

amazing people, limited upward mobility
Feb 2, 2023 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Magnificent people. Everybody you meet here wants you to succeed. The teams work really hard to build a strong tight-knit culture and sense of community, especially with remote staff. It's not hard to find purpose in your work with all of the support they give.
Cons
There's not a whole lot of room for upward mobility. It's a startup and it feels like it was structured as bare bones as possible to cover functions, but not necessarily give people the openings to grow. That needs some updating.

Instability and Inexperience
Aug 1, 2021 - Software Engineer in Washington, DCRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Somewhere to launch your career and grow into a role so you can take your skill set somewhere else. Lots of opportunity to learn, shine, and make an impact if you're self motivated, but few opportunities for mentorship.
Cons
Bleeding technical staff, lacks focus and vision. Very few people with deep rooted knowledge around the energy space involved in product design or decision making. Sales constantly pushes product features that simply don't exist, causing everyone to always be operating at break neck pace, and make unsustainable decisions. Abuses interns across orgs by keeping them on for years at a time acting in full time capacities. Fake promotions to get people to act in capacities higher than their pay grade are frequently given... i.e. more stress and responsibility without any increase in pay or change in official title. If you aren't upper leadership, prepare yourself to be paid below market rates. Desperate to keep up with competition without any research, legwork, security, or resources. Innovation is long gone. Hostile takeover by board with over inflated egos and inability to listen to employees. Very, very immature company and product in desperate need of experienced staff, clear direction, and capable leadership.

Pros
If you are willing to grind and work extra hours, you may be able to climb the ladder quickly. They have fun start up perks in the office which was a fun plus.
Cons
During COVID, they laid about 20 of us off on a group zoom call with no explanation or empathy. They explicitly told us on the call that they had no intention to hire any of us back once they recover from COVID times. This company does not show empathy or value towards their employees.

Cons
None I can think of.

Fantastic team, product, and culture!
Sep 15, 2020 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Aquicore is a great place to learn and become a functional expert in your domain. The culture here fosters ownership and development like no other. Hard work and commitment is recognized and rewarded, and there is space for open dialogue with leadership. No problem is too big or too small for Aquicore, and the team brings an equal amount of drive to solving issues that are big, small and everything in between. The mission to create global impact certainly echoes through the walls of Aquicore, and is the north star for any new initiative. The team is an incredibly talented group of people who care, and inspire others around them every day.
Cons
Like any startup, Aquicore has growing pains, but nothing that can't be solved by rolling up our sleeves and focusing on the solution rather than the problem.

A fast-growing startup with great people and a noble mission
Oct 1, 2018 - Anonymous Employee in Washington, DCRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Simply put, Aquicore is a great place to work. The company is mission-driven and growing fast, the team is talented, positive and collegial, and the product itself has the potential to truly shake up the commercial real estate industry and become the leader in the market. Leadership values work/life balance (something that can be rare for a startup) and the culture is fun, friendly and refreshingly free of the dreaded startup tech bro mentality. Solid benefits - catered lunches, monthly happy hours and events, unlimited vacation, generally laidback office environment, Justworks HR and included membership to One Medical. Employees have basically unlimited opportunity to experiment and test out new ideas without red tape or office politics getting in the way - if you want to suggest something or pursue something new, your idea will be heard.
Cons
It's a startup, so you have to be comfortable wearing many hats, being scrappy when needed, and having things change suddenly. Urgent projects can spring up out of nowhere and internal processes continue to evolve (though the company has matured quite a bit in the last year). Not personally a con for me, but definitely a con for some.

Pros
I really enjoyed my time at Aquicore and consider it one of the best places I've worked. The mission of the organization and product are compelling and interesting. Beyond that, the team is incredibly talented and fun to work with. Aquicore offers team members the opportunity to truly own their career and how they contribute to the success of the company. There was never a shortage of opportunities for me to learn something new about my role or function. The leadership team does a great job of recognizing people who perform and go above and beyond which is great in a growing organization where everyone is almost always wearing multiple hats. I really enjoyed the laid-back culture, unlimited time off and generally fun office environment. Overall, your role and Aquicore is what you make it- I had a lot of fun and learned a ton!
Cons
Aquicore is a small, fast-growing startup trying to do a lot at once. Sometimes, decisions are made quickly and things change. Anyone who works here needs to be comfortable with that. This isnt necessarily a con but something to be aware of.

Grow and contribute in an exciting field
Nov 4, 2019 - Data Scientist in Washington, DCRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Incredibly talented colleagues. I'm constantly learning and growing here, and I'm inspired to give my best. If you're looking to just analyze data, or just write front-end code, or just be back-end, you'll be disappointed. You frequently need to roll up your sleeves and tackle issues from different angles. For data science, that means a healthy blend of solid statistical knowledge, programming, the ins and outs of AWS, and how your work fits into the broader product. - Your work has immediate impact. You're given responsibility from the start, and you have the ability to make meaningful change in the company and the product immediately. - Fun culture. Everyone respects each other, and our weekly all-hands meetings bring home the message that we're a team working together on an exciting product. There's also a Switch to play after-hours, which doesn't hurt. - Wake up knowing your work is helping reduce carbon emissions - Free catered lunch Mondays and Wednesdays, monthly happy hours, gym, roof with a great view of downtown
Cons
- Some might not like the range of work - No 401k match
