I worked at Aramark full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Their program A2L is a great way to gain experience as new grad. If you are open to different locations, you can end up in a pretty cool area since they have national parks and cities available to work in. It seems like it is fairly easy/quick to move up as long as you are open to relocation. A lot of managers can be promoted within a year or so (sometimes less).

    Cons

There is hardly any training... they really throw you into the fire. Depending on who you are, you will either succeed or fail miserably. The first few months for me were rough since there was a lot of work to do yet I was given hardly any direction. Also work-life balance is terrible. I worked in a hotel environment and 50 hour weeks were basically minimum and looked down upon if you worked less than that. Average were 60 hour weeks, and occasionally you would do 70+ hour weeks. A lot of times we didn't get two days off. There was actualy one A2L person during the conference call who said he hadn't had a day off in 3+ weeks. I can believe that. It is all salary so there is no overtime. Sometimes the employee can actually get paid way more than you because they get paid overtime. Also the quick promotions can be a bad thing since a lot of management are not really ready for it.

    Advice to Management

Do better with training. Stop over-working managers. Get more staff. If there was more staff, there would be less turn over, workers and managers would be happier, and you wouldn't have to constantly scramble to hire someone when the last person quits. Don't let the 60 hour week be a norm.

    I worked at Aramark full-time

    Pros

A leader in the hospitality industry, with room to grow in any direction you wish to go. Lots of opportunities!

    Cons

They tend to keep a lot of unproductive people, just because they have been there for a long time, or had been good at one time (almost like tenure). If you are working under one of these unproductive people, prepare to get really frustrated.......and do all the work.
