    Pros

Great company great people and benefits

    Cons

Honestly not sure. Its a good company. In life you have ups and downs. I dont like the new bonus structure but its not bad and it makes sense.

    Advice to Management

I honestly really like the management at arbitron. They have an open door policy and answer your questions even when they are not directly related to the task at hand but still relevant.

    Pros

Benefits are very good. Management for the most part is supportive and understanding. Product is something to be proud of. Honesty and integrity are values that are reinforced.

    Cons

Business model is constantly being tweaked and resources are being shifted. Some parts of the organization are in 2010 while others are stuck in the 1960s. If you do not have industry experience do not expect anyone to have time to bring you up to speed.

    Advice to Management

Keep upholding honesty and integrity, these values make a difference in wanting to give your best. Freezing pay raises, cutting employess, and not providing career advancement opportunities is eventually going to have crippling returns on cultivating the next level of industry stalwarts.

I worked at Arbitron full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Arbitron WAS a great company. They set up employee outings and team building exercises. Benefits were out of this world. 401k and profit share was good.
Moral was usually high and everyone at Arbitron treated one another like family.

All of my star ratings and approval for the CEO are all for Arbitron.

    Cons

Once the "merger" began with Nielsen everything went down hill. People became distant and secretive. You never knew what was going to happen next. Although the Nielsen staff ensured that everyone would be kept in the lope with all the changes that would be happening within the company; things seemed to pan out a little different.

When the day came for layoffs to happen you were basically treated like a contestant on American Idol. You were taken into a room and told whether you were staying or going and never given a reason for why you were one of the 600 let go.

After everything was changed to Nielsen you no longer felt like an employee. But rather just another "associate."
