I have been working at Arbour Counseling Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Supervision is great, everyone is friendly, and the hospital is working to improve its reputation. Lots of flexibility.

    Cons

Many things are very unorganized, not professional, and salary is low.

    Advice to Management

Pay employees the pay they deserve for the work they do.

    Pros

Great experience, flexible schedule and good benefits included a lot of vacation time. Paid supervision, mileage and cell phone riemburesement

    Cons

Entirely fee for service. If the client does not show up, you do not get paid. If you do not make your hours due to no-shows and such, you need to use your earned PTO to make up for the missed hours. They do not care about their employees, despite saying they do. They have very little training when you start, and they hand you a full case-load immediately without providing much guidance. They do not always pay you correctly, so you need to keep an eye on your paycheck to make sure it is accurate. They do not clump your case load area, so you are driving anywhere from Boston to Marshfield without getting paid for travel time. There is a lot of work you a required to do that you do not get paid for (such a drive time and documentation). You paycheck is not consistent or reliable. It is difficult to make your hours even though you are working all of the time. There is a high staff turn over rate. The morale of the staff is very low.

    Advice to Management

There need to be a pay restructure to allow employees to have some sort of safety net. Employees need to be paid for their time. More training needs to happen upon hire and throughout employment.

    Pros

    You make your own schedule

    Cons

there are no raises. To get higher pay you need to get a higher degree

    Advice to Management

Appreciate clinicians so people stay longer. Stop overworking us. Working overtime shouldn't be the only way to make more money. We deserve raises.

    Pros

There are no pros at this company

    Cons

Fee For Service. More interested in the money than the clients and the clinicians.

I worked at Arbour Counseling Services part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Some great people work there

    Cons

It was impossible to get enough hours to make a living, so many no-shows. Sometimes I would drive there in the morning for one client who no-showed then would have to drive back hours later for one more client, so it was impossible to have another job at the same time. Tons of unpaid time doing paperwork.

    Pros

support with billing, plenty of referrals, diverse range of clients, office space, administrative support, prescribers on site, groups available

    Cons

fee for service model, full time employment is 32 billable hours per week, dipping below 32 billable hours per week risks losing benefits, over emphasis on money-making, lack of community, functions like a therapy factory

    Advice to Management

    Care about your employees.

I worked at Arbour Counseling Services full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Potential growth in profession. Gained lots of experience working with families and children. Benefits were alright. This is the type of job for you if you are organized, good at scheduling, assertive, persistent, and patient. Not the typical 9-5 job but that can be beneficial to others, you create your own schedule.

    Cons

I only received an hour of training and that was towards how to use their database system. You feel like you are being thrown to the wolves when you step foot into your first client session. There is a lot of work that you put in that goes unpaid for. Traveling to client homes really sucked especially if everyone lived at least half an hour away from each other. Didn't get to really see or meet other co-workers aside from the LICSW that you go to client sessions with.

    Advice to Management

Needs more organization. Train your bachelors level employees better.

I have been working at Arbour Counseling Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible hours and schedule. Able to take time off when you want (once you gain enough time).

    Cons

Very little training and support. You are basically thrown in without a lot of guidance. A lot of focus on productivity and less on client care. Staff are given a ton of responsibilities and management little.

    Advice to Management

Better training, more support to staff. Less focus on productivity. More support with major insurance changes which affect productivity.
