I worked at Arc of the Ozarks full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good training within the company, while employed

    Cons

Wear and tear on your own vehicle, and lots of minutes on your own phone, needed for company use.

    Advice to Management

    Higher pay rates

    Pros

Able to help people with developmental disabilities get the services they need. Give them the opportunity to live independent, fulfilling lives.

    Cons

Have to work 24/7. Never get a weekend off. Not ever really off. Huge work load and they keep adding more responsibilities every month. Always short staffed. When a supervisor can't get everything done because they have to work so much direct care during the day, evenings, and weekends, they are labeled a bad or lazy supervisor. Training department loves to set program supervisors up for failure and then blame us for failing.

    Advice to Management

Look at other successful businesses that have 24/7 staff and model after them. A big raise does not replace a life and time with family. You are loosing tremendous talent on a regular basis.

I have been working at Arc of the Ozarks full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The clients and your peers. These are some of the best people in the world! The pay is competitive. Leadership is smart and vision focused. Financial structures are well managed. They promote from within. A truly client focused organization that lives it's mission.

    Cons

Like all non-profits, funds can be tight, so there is not enough tech to go around. There is a good amount of paperwork and a lot of redundant reporting.

I have been working at Arc of the Ozarks part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Enjoyed working with our clients. Always something new everyday.

    Cons

Supervisors did not treat you like you had much worth at the job, left work everyday feeling like it didn't matter whether I did my job well or not. Management did not follow through with the necessary disciplinary actions to ensure quality service was provided by staff for clients.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees like humans. Show them respect and appreciation when they perform above and beyond the requirements of the job and follow through with disciplinary actions on the employees who do not perform even the basest of legal necessities.

I have been working at Arc of the Ozarks full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This job is very flexible for college students. Other perks include- holiday pay, paid vacation/sick time, and the option to get dental and health, are all part of the gig even for hourly workers. Great practice if you're interested in a position in the human/health services at some point. There is a lot of quality training.

    Cons

Possibility of dismemberment, hostile work environment, will likely be physically assaulted at some point, chain of command will not have your back, and your work will follow you home, this job never ends, even when you're off the clock.

    Advice to Management

Support your teams, make a call, and stand by it.
