    I have been working at ArcBest full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Excellent culture in sales. Chief Sales Officer Dave Darter is behind his people and has done an excellent job putting great management behind sales force. CEO Judy McReynolds is someone that I think most people have a lot of confidence in, moving the company where it needs to go in order to grow.

    Cons

    First year no PTO is challenging.

    Advice to Management

    I have a lot of confidence in upper level management.

    I have been working at ArcBest full-time

    Pros

    Great Benefits, Good work - life balance, Great People.

    Cons

    Undefined growth plan, Constant change in process and procedures - makes it challenging to grow your business when your territory keeps changing.

    Advice to Management

    Focus on growing accounts and forget measuring call numbers. Call numbers don't equal $$$. Good Sales people, strategic prospecting, and effort do.

    I worked at ArcBest full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great job right out of college, good starting point, a resume builder job

    Some departments look like fun to work in, but that's only because they have great people.
    If you aren't in that department, you'll wish you were

    Cons

    Wait too long to promote
    Don't promote for the right reasons
    Dangle promotions to keep you hoping you'll get it
    Very cliquey - if you are different, you'll be seen as weird
    No degree gets you a better pay than someone with a masters degree (helps when family member is a director)
    Little recognition for hard work
    Underpaid for making company millions
    If you don't have kids, you are singled out
    Make you compete against coworkers fostering a fake sense of teamwork
    Silent bullying
    Bosses don't have your back

    Advice to Management

    If you don't promote people, people will promote themselves by leaving. Also, increase your community impact - it's basically non-existent

    Pros

    There were quite a few attractive female co workers

    Cons

    highly regulated and micromanaged. Very few perks or benefits

    Advice to Management

    Get out sales way and let us do what sales people do best

    I have been working at ArcBest full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Great culture and people within the organization. Truly a great place to work that you enjoy coming to every day.

    Cons

    There is always a lot of talk about new opportunities and growth and getting help by adding head count, but it hardly ever materializes. Work/life balance is absolutely terrible. A 40 hour work week does not exist here.

    Advice to Management

    My advice to management would be to get the help that is needed instead of working people to their limit and calling mercy before hiring help.

    * Managers are reasonable and caring people
    * Flexible work hours
    * Daily catering avaiable
    * Excellent pay
    * Stable employment, low turnover
    * Interesting projects, lots of new code to write

    * Corporation is constantly introducing healthy living initiatives. Very cool!
    * Private family doctor within walking distance from the office - extremely convenient.
    * ABT has many *expert* software developers. You are guaranteed to grow as a programmer.
    * Top-notch, well-funded, extensive training program for new employees. Lots of valuable skills to learn.
    * The trucking industry is NOT boring. Lots of interesting problems to solve!

    Cons

    * Relatively stingy with vacation
    * Cubicle farm
    * Legacy software is a harsh reality for tech companies that have been around for this long
    * Management is effecient and stable, so promotions can be slow
    * Heavily invested in proprietary software (WIndows + IBM, virtually no Linux)
