I worked at Arcadia University full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Enrollment Management is probably the best division to work for. They work as a team and are very supportive of their effort as a unit.

    Cons

Leadership turnover in the last decade (3 Presidents, 3 Provosts, Chief Officers, VPs, and Trustees) have made for a very unstable organization from the employee's perspective. Students may not notice as easily, but in the little more that 4 years I was employed there I served under 2 Presidents, 2 Provosts, and because of multiple dismissals and restructuring I had 4 different direct supervisors. University Relations is a difficult division to work in unless you are comfortable being a drone. Experience and skill sets there are not acknowledged and successful outcomes are not rewarded, even if the work shows statistical impact to university revenues and cost savings.

    Advice to Management

Leadership: Stop trying to grow too fast into a mid-size liberal arts university. Take a step back and re-center with your core competency disciplines (Physical Therapy, Teachers' Education, Study Abroad Experiences). Then rebuild from there.

Management: Recognize those who lead by work ethic, initiative, and example rather than by title, especially in University Relations.

I worked at Arcadia University part-time

    Pros

A mostly caring community, access to all university amenities, good baked food.

    Cons

There's an underlying current of discrimination in the institution. I was only there for a while, but I've heard it's gotten worse, and the students are starting to more than feel the effects too.

I have been working at Arcadia University full-time

    Pros

One of the nice things about working at Arcadia is that many of the people are nice to work with, and they help and support you.

    Cons

Arcadia has gotten increasingly worse over the years:
    Lack of respect
    Poor management
    No raises for a while
    No career opportunities

I worked at Arcadia University full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great people focused on making an educating experience for the students.
    Free classes.
    Work isn't very hectic.
Lots of neat people work here.
    The campus is nice.
    Nice art galleries.

    Cons

Administration has to appease faculty, staff and students which can be difficult.
They are a small liberal arts school with a small liberal arts school budget.
They've had a heavy rotation of Presidents.

    Advice to Management

I can't possibly provide advice in an area I know so little about. Running a university must be difficult. They at least make it look difficult.
