I have been working at ArcelorMittal USA full-time

    Pros

Fairly competitive starting salary for recent college graduates. Company provides up to 6% 401K match and is 100% vested immediately. Company offers competitive Graduate Study reimbursement of up to $24k per year.

    Cons

Steel industry is currently suffering and the company is struggling financial, resulting in overall negative work environment, slashes in health care/benefits, and limited to no merit based pay increases. Upper management style is dated, poorly manages personnel changes, and fails to foster career development for its younger work force.

    Advice to Management

Despite the struggling steel industry, the company must find ways to reward the performance of its younger work force and also work to evolve its management style to reflect the modern workforce.

I have been working at ArcelorMittal USA full-time

    Pros

Casual environment which translates into casual dress code for most jobs, 401k match is great, education reimbursement, great pay... but only if you're in the union

    Cons

Health insurance was just slashed only for salaried employees, bonus is never anywhere near target levels, forced distribution rankings for performance reviews causes dissent amount employee base, middle management has little authority and is discouraged from having their own opinions or ideas, promotions are accompanied by large jumps in responsibilities but small pay increases, very little focus is given to employee wellness or retention

    Advice to Management

Stop treating your salaried workforce like 2nd class citizens. Your retention issues stem from the fact that most salaried employees are underpaid and under-appreciated. Bonus programs are based on factors outside of our control, and most employees resent your punitive performance review system. With better options available, you will continue to be a training facility for young college graduates, who will use the company for their two years of experience before moving on to bigger and better opportunities. Slowly but surely, your downtrodden experienced workforce will slip into retirement, and the transfer of knowledge to the next generation will evaporate into the rafters of your aging, neglected mills.

I have been working at ArcelorMittal USA full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

As the largest steel company in the world, the company has a lot of power in the market. They are very well know amongst competitors and continue to dominate the market-share for steel producing.

    Cons

There is no belonging feel to this company, no group, team or family mentality. Business units all fend for themselves and independently of each other. It is clear very little time and effort are put into maintianing and upliftling their employees. All company policy and conduct protects the company interest over employees.

    Advice to Management

A company is only as strong as its loyal and hard working employees who feel their efforts are providing value-add to the company.
