    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Arch Chemicals full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Laid back. Good medical benefits. Very few lay-offs.

    Cons

Industry standards are often ignored. Nothing in place to quantitatively analyze employee performance. No rationale for incentive amounts. Holiday, vacation, and weekend disruptions without compensation. Very little employee sponsored training. No culture. No incentive for teamwork provided by management.

    Advice to Management

Provide paths for advancement. Outsource jobs of positions that management cannot accurately rate performance on. Provide work-related (not just safety) training for employees.

    Pros

Arch was a great company to work at if you really like being around dangerous chemicals every day. I hope you enjoy it.

    Cons

Arch is a chemical company that is okay at what they do. They don't do enough for employee happiness.

    Advice to Management

Arch did a great job with me as an employer. It would be nice to see some new talent brought in.

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

Arch Chemicals is a large company and it is easy to stay under the radar. Depending on your supervisor, you may have the ability to work from home or take personal time when needed. The Engineering Managers are genuinely concerned about the happiness and well-being of their employees, even though upper management is not.

    Cons

Because Arch Chemicals is a large company, it is also subject to an extraordinary amount of bureaucracy. You will spend most of your time in safety meetings, monthly meeting, completing paperwork, and performing computer-based training. There is little to no organization with respect to project management, and so a large portion of time is spent attending to customer issues.

    Advice to Management

Senior Management needs to focus on their core strengths. They are currently playing catch-up with competitors because they failed to understand market demands. They are now suffering as a result of their inferior chemicals.
