I have been working at Ardagh Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They know how to treat their people at least like people most of the time! A lot of companies don't

    Cons

They do expect a lot of time from you, but are generally pretty good if you need/want time off later on then

I have been working at Ardagh Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The pay is on the higher end for the area. The technical level required for the jobs tends to be pretty low, meaning, you do not have to be the highest performer in you area to make a good salary.

    Cons

Oh boy, where to begin. There are major conflicts of interest as the management has highered manly from their direct and indirect family. Preferential treatment runs rampant with multiple "clicks." The union only will defend those who are in their interest group, namely, family members. If you have a high technical skills in you job they will pile you with task and as soon as you drop a responsibility, they will kick you to the curve. It is an extremely hostile place to work.

    Advice to Management

The recent changes have been welcome; however, you have allowed the problem managers to continue doing what they have always done, what's-more is, you have recently given the worst ones more power! These changes are to little, to late. Your lack of caring for all employees equally, regardless if they are you family or not, has done nothing except create the continuing need for the union in this location.

    Pros

The pay scale and dress code.

    Cons

Absolutely no work life balance, senior management talks a good game but not sincere. There is an abundance of arrogance if that is what you are looking for in your leadership team.

    Advice to Management

    Care.

I have been working at Ardagh Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

New Fishers, IN office is very nice and has a hip vibe. Pay is good. Work is challenging.

    Cons

This company will never be voted top employer to work for if voted by its employees. The only consistent communication received from human resource is which lunch food truck will be in the parking lot every Thursday. Current HR hiring practice is to look outside for promotion vs. internal with more weight given to outsiders. Work life balance is very poor depending on the department you are in. Instead of rolling out an employee friendly flexible work schedule it goes by department or supervisor which of course is very inconsistent. This company had zero empathy to employees adversely displaced with the relocation of its headquarters from Muncie to Fishers. It's unfortunate in that young or new hires may never truly understand the close knit culture that once existed before Ardagh purchased the company in 2014. There used to be company wide annual holiday parties, fundraisers for the community, promotion of volunteerism, sports leagues, volleyball at lunch, Indy Mini Marathon teams, tuition reimbursement, and career advancement initiatives. Most of this is non existent now or not given much thought it seems. Atmosphere is somewhat smug now. Gone is the day of the company CEO walking up to you asking about your family or wishing you a Merry Christmas.

    Advice to Management

All new positions should be posted and existing employees should be given priority. More flexible work schedules should be looked at instead of the willy nilly department based policy thing going on now. Help empower employees to gain the education, training or skill sets needed to get promoted instead of just writing off older employees. If these exist it's certainly not well communicated or advertised.

I have been working at Ardagh Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Pretty good retirement and 401K plan

    Cons

Vacation plan is poor. Very expensive contribution amount for Healthcare and the out of pocket is close to $10K.

    Advice to Management

You need some women in high level positions. Currently all upper level positions are filled by men. The caliber of these men for the most part is not very high. Leadership skills are very weak company wide.
