I worked at Arecibo Observatory part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    It is a tourist place.
    Meet diverse culture of people.

    Cons

    Not so friendly environment.
Must learn more than 75 questions in less than two weeks.
    Road is complicated to reach.

    Advice to Management

Management should bring more attractions so the tourist could visit this place even more.

    Pros

Ge more experience in customer service and how to manage visitors, because always are different.

    Cons

Work in an entity (UMET) in the observatory that contracts me for a year and doesnt renew my contract.

    Advice to Management

Always works with discipline and with pride to work as a owner not employer.

I have been working at Arecibo Observatory full-time

    Pros

Supporting the world's largest radio telescope is fantastic. Always something different and exciting to do each day.

    Cons

The usual HR/Management BS, along with an incompetent university helping run the facility makes it hard to get things purchased or approved.

    Advice to Management

Have the partner university get it's act together. Improve benefits. Provide education support for those wishing to continue education.
