I worked at Argo Group full-time

    Pros

    Very Entrepreneurial with decent benefits

    Cons

Senior Management is not loyal to anyone. Will layoff people off at the drop of a hat to make sure expenses are in line.

I have been working at Argo Group full-time

    Pros

Good salary, financially strong, nice coworkers and attractive office locations

    Cons

Many vacancies - prior managers blamed for vacancies but no sense of urgency to fill positions and activity has waned over past two months. People continue to leave and interview process delayed tonpint where some good applicants have withdrawn their application. Air of distrust and uncertainty given senior management appears distant and uncommunicative.

I have been working at Argo Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Benefits are in line with the rest of industry. Expenses don’t seem to be an issue so there’s opportunity to go to lots of events.

    Cons

I’ve been with the company for a little over a year and I’ve never seen so many employees hired and then fired in under one year. You would think Management would view this as a problem but they don’t. They double down on the same hiring practices. They should install revolving doors at all locations given all the turnover. I for one am very concerned by this and will likely be looking to leave on my own. Senior Management sits behind closed doors all day. It’s bizarre behavior from our so called “leaders”. If this is bad enough the systems are horrible and there is no system communication.

I worked at Argo Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Flexible work schedule Friendly peers Snacks in breakroom and often free lunch for meetings

    Cons

Suffocating workloads Extreme micromanagement and often poor communication Top - senior management (including CEO) unstable, at times unprofessional and generally demeaning. Excessive turnover (around 50-60%) in the claims department (nationwide)

I worked at Argo Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Above average pay relative to the rest of the industry. This is because they are over compensating because of the high level of dysfunction at this company.

    Cons

Dysfunction is an understatement to even begin to explain the incompetent management at the helm of Argo Pro. Having HR at the offices has become commonplace because they are either there to let someone go or have to come in to mediate “discussions” between feuding employees. The lack of control , oversight and professionalism is truly astounding. I’ve never worked in an office environment that so resembled the worst aspects of high school life. Senior management doesn’t do anything to control the unprofessional behavior and environment, it seems they would prefer to bury their heads in the sand and pretend problems don’t exist.

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Argo Group full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Working with some of the people within the business is a positive

    Cons

Communication and project planning are usually lacking, especially what comes from Senior Management. Major plans are often executed without proper evaluation of risks or solid plans. If you're not a manager, you're not valued as an employee. I.T. is also outsourcing to a 3rd party vendor so it makes working their less appealing.

I worked at Argo Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Some great smart people to work with - Good salary and benefits

    Cons

    - Lack of direction, strategy is ad-hoc and poorly communicated - Senior management fail to engage and employ an ivory tower approach - Too much time spent in procrastination rather than actually delivery - Knee-jerk reactive approach to change
