I have been working at Argus Information & Advisory Services full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

As an employee, effort put into your career at Argus will be repaid back with a significant multiple.
Argus provides employees with the opportunity to work with worldwide clients across the finance and (recently) the retail sectors, and use modern analytical and modelling techniques and solutions to add value.
    Key pros:
    - salary and benefit package is competitive
    - opportunities for career/grade advancement are readily available, and are provided fairly. Again - the more you put in, then the more you get out of it
    - opportunities to work across worldwide sites - many people from the US and UK offices are currently working in Australia, New Zealand and other locations
    - work assignments tend to be of limited duration - so if you don't like the work task for that job, you're not doing it forever, and you quickly move onto a new role
    - you get exposure to best-in-class solutions at banks and retailers, and have a great opportunity to learn from this exposure
    - there is a good team culture and morale - which does come from the top down
    - good retention rate within the broad team demonstrates that something is right!
    - the company has a good balance between promoting from within, and also bringing in (limited) external talent, which helps refresh and deliver new perspectives

    Cons

Hours can be long, but again as in any aspect of life, you will get more out, if you put the time and effort in.

    Advice to Management

Keep on providing the opportunities for individuals to grow within the company.

I have been working at Argus Information & Advisory Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I have been at Argus for two years now and would definitely recommend this as a great place to work. For one, they have a 100% monopoly business model and are still discovering all of the new, fascinating, and very lucrative applications of their enormous data asset - this is a firm that has a very solid future. Second of all, management is very open to conversation and attentive to complaints, suggestions, and encouragement from employees. The benefits and compensation package is comfortable and substantial so that, even living in New York City, no one is struggling to scrape by. It's also an academic type of work that is intellectually stimulating and requires effort, ensuring that the job is boring only if you choose to make it so by not pursuing opportunities or challenges. The firm also has regular team and company wide events, happy hours, and outings, as well as a quarterly town hall meeting where all employees can see how the business is doing - no detail is held back or hidden.

    Cons

The primary complaint is the commute. Being located in White Plains is really only convenient to upper management who commute a short distance from Westchester or Connecticut. All of the entry level employees are either forced to live in White Plains or spend upwards of an hour each way walking, taking busses, and catching trains just to get to work. Other than that, employees are often asked to work long hours to get large projects done in short amounts of time. However, it's nothing like the kind of hours at similar consulting shops and a far cry from the banking world.

    Advice to Management

Keep the company on the current trajectory. However, there needs to be a much more robust career tracking initiative to give employees a clear cut path on how to move ahead.

    Advice to Management

Invest more in the everyday resources needed to complete our tasks.

    Pros

You have the chance to learn a lot about the banking industry (if that is your aim you can do it here).

If you start as an analyst (out of college for example), you have the chance to build good work ethic, which will help further your career.

If you work at Argus at a higher level (i.e. Manager and higher), you have the chance to help in the advancement of other's who report to you as well as continue to build your skills.

Since Argus is not a large company, you have more ability to make an impact than you might at some larger companies.

    Cons

There is a lot of work but that is the same with any growing company.

    Pros

Opportunity to work on the most relevant issues facing the banking industry. Argus does care about retaining top talent - and is doing everything they can to make the job sustainable while continuing to deliver the highest quality for its clients. Personal development opportunities are big, but only for the better performers.

    Cons

Travel can become the norm. First few years are tough as one needs to prove themselves. No easy passage based on reputation. Experience can vary significantly across teams and projects.

    Advice to Management

    Training, perks and work-life balance.

I worked at Argus Information & Advisory Services as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

The teams are small at Argus. Most people are your team are usually available to talk or to walk you through something. This is most valuable when tackling a problem when someone on your team might have more experience with.

    Cons

As an intern, wish there was more of a concrete program for interns. It sometimes seemed like the interns were thrown into the wild to fend for themselves their first week. Also, some interns received more formal training than others depending on what team that had been placed on.

    Advice to Management

A well structured intern injection program that guarantees that interns are all on the same level no matter what team or company project they are on. A streamlined process and orientation would not hurt.
