I worked at Ariba full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Part of SAP--great company to work for
Lots of focus on innovation and potential for future success
    Very collaborative environment
Great benefits being part of SAP

    Cons

Lot's of confusion caused by constant change
Core products have matured. Innovation comes now in small increments.
New leadership doesn't seem to understand the business

    Advice to Management

    Stick to a plan
Create a more secure environment where people feel safe to innovate

I have been working at Ariba full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very competitive compensation, lots of great people with great energy

    Cons

Hit or miss with management, I have had 3 directors in 5 years. Two were exceptional, the current one is the biggest snake I have ever worked for, watch your back...

    Advice to Management

Need to listen to customer and employee feedback or some of the up and coming P2P competitors and going to run all over us.

I worked at Ariba full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great pay
    Get to see new places
If your position isn't a fit they will try to move you to another department rather that letting you go or firing

    Cons

    Travel hours
Terrible training for lesser experienced employees. It was catered to those they later were contractors beforehand. There was no mentorship set up for those fresh out of school. They just threw you into project with only training in the solution itself.
Consulting managers don't care about you. (I spent 6 months "on the bench", my manager said find a pool this summer it will be a long summer for you. Didn't even try to find me a project.

    Advice to Management

If someone has been on leave for 3 months. Don't assume they can be ready to go for a project in 2 weeks. Especially if you haven't had them do a consulting project in a year. (I had been doing other department jobs)

    Excellent growth opportunities
    Employee focused leadership

    Cons

Compensation is not up to the standard
    High stress levels

    Advice to Management

A lot of the employees are at a low end of the band and wish there was one time correction to fix them.

I worked at Ariba full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Easy going culture. If you can work inside a loose environment with little guidance, help or support this is a great place to work as a freelance person. You are on your own here and that can be good for a person with a willingness to do so. Not for everyone.

    Cons

Frat house, immature, drinking culture. New ideas not welcome. If experienced, that background will not be valued. Young people with no experience or skills are given leadership roles in front of clients to the detriment of clients. Technology has been milked since the 1990's and showing its age. Way behind competitors. Resistance to using SAP technology and tools.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing as the competitors are loving it.

    Pros

The company did a great job leveraging a cloud model to capture market share and drive shareholder value. The global footprint and Tier 1 brand status were a plus.

    Cons

The market was very saturated, and the pricing models weren't always competitive with other alternatives. They did not have a sales culture.

    Advice to Management

None, as the company was ultimately acquired by SAP. The challenges now are SAP's - to leverage the strength of the brand and SAP's existing customer base to drive further adoption.

A great place to work. Great compnay, greate culture. Fun to work with different clients all over the world.

    Cons

Very little salary. So much competition. Stressful job. So much travelling. Promotions are less likely. Make sure you negotiate best when entering the job.

I have been working at Ariba full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Vacation days, sick time, beer Fridays, free lunch Wednesdays.
I like my coworkers for the most part.

    Cons

The workload is highly unmanageable. I realize that certain quarters are busier than others, however we are constantly short staffed and are currently in a hiring freeze, while the network ramps up and we have more work to do than ever. So i guess a plus from this is job security, but personally, it has been at the expense of my health and well being. My stress level has been through the roof.

There is really no training, you are just thrown in with the sharks. Most people in my department (billing-collections) are too busy to train. Some people here literally do the bare minimum all day and my department is working non-stop for 45+ hours/week.

The pay is pretty good but for the amount of work and responsibilities, I honestly would expect more.

If you want to move up in your career here , you have to get on someone's good side and stay there. Good luck doing that when you are drowning in work.

    Advice to Management

Talk to your teams. Take employee feedback and put it to good use when evaluating your departments.

    Pros

Easy to reach ceo. Beer fridays, great pay and bonuses. Work from home flexibility, cool boss, clean environment

    Cons

Late conference calls, not enough diversity, high work volume, unrealistic time management expectations, group work evaluations weekly so your mistakes are seen by everyone. Salesmen constantly calling and emailing expecting miracles. constant policy changes

    Advice to Management

Need more realistic expectations regarding work balance
