I have been working at Ariens full-time

    Pros

Everyone there works as a family to meet our goals at the end of the day.

    Cons

Working 9 hour days and sometimes Saturdays is not fun

    Advice to Management

Treat everyone equally no matter who they are

    I worked at Ariens full-time

    Pros

Ariens Wholegoods in a great company. Dan Ariens is a great leader. Ariens offers average benefits, Flexible hours, employee purchase program. Meet some great co-workers.

    Cons

Ariens Specialty Brands in the Janesville location is not going in a good direction. The upper management is very poor and do not know what direction to go or what they want to do. They do not listen to their employees, are exploring areas of business that are a huge risk to the overall business due to the degree of change. Feels like the culture is becoming a back stabbing culture here as they are eliminating positions to try to make up the budget gap.

    Advice to Management

Communicate with your employees on your decisions you are making as they may have valuable input. Become more competitive with the products carried. There is currently nothing that makes a customer use us compared to another company with the same supplies. Get creative for a way to earn more customers.

    Pros

Good family company, 5 generations at the business, small town safe and feel in Brillion. Stable business that has been around, really good product, best Snow blowers, and mowers. Pride team at the company is very involved.

    Cons

Small town can lack places to eat lunch,

    Advice to Management

Keep listening to your team members, everyone has ideas, those ideas cant come to life if everyone doesn't listen .

I worked at Ariens (More than 10 years)

    Pros

the people i worked with were great and the ours were not bad and i learned more people skills that proved to be useful.

    Cons

the management was not very people friendly and they do not treat people equally , it is not a safe place to work, they say safety first but don't really mean it and there pay is below standard.

    Advice to Management

get rid of some of management and treat people like they are not a bunch of dummies, treat people the same not different rules for different people depending on who you are and quit clamming that you are a family business when you act nothing like one.

    I worked at Ariens full-time

    Pros

With a little work, Ariens has potential to be a great place to work, pay was good, products they sell are great.

    Cons

Many workers are not happy to be there, very unorganized, everything happens very last minute, many of the leaders have no idea how to lead.

    Advice to Management

The 15 Management Principles are talked about a lot and posted throughout the company.. Please provide ongoing training as to what they mean.. Many leaders do not follow them, unfortunately.

I have been working at Ariens full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Company pride, flexible work schedule,

    Cons

Does not offer exit interviews to determine why people have left - would show a pattern, favoritism,

    Advice to Management

    1. Upper management appears to have a clear vision but there seems to be some issues when it gets to middle management. Recent reduction in personnel does not jive with upper management direction and the method ignores the company's core values.

    2. Middle management may have too much to manage - resulting in certain areas faltering or failing.

    3. Listen to the employees in their area of expertise!

    Pros

Some of the best and experience co-workers that I have worked with..

    Cons

One of the worst turnover rates I have every worked with. They were up to 85% for a few years, now down to 65%. Very small group of co-workers between 5 to 15 years experience. Management seams to get new employees out of school or at cheaper wages, and then eliminate the higher wage employees. SAD !

    Advice to Management

Don't be scared of the knowledge that some of your shop/ floor co-workers have. Listen to them and learn. You would reduce some of your problems, that you struggle with. Not to just get read of co-workers that have better idles then you. JUST TO SAVE YOUR JOB!
