I worked at Ariosa Diagnostics full-time

    Pros

Roche benefits good. The company is very focused and effectively accomplishes research and business goals. Generally relaxed atmosphere. Friendly colleagues. Disruptive, patient care-improving products.

    Cons

Amenities for employees are embarrassingly spare and lack some basics. Middle management and facilities staff point their fingers at the company's "miserly" CFO. This absolutely contributes to the culture here where people are not proud of being employees or as excited about the business as they should be. Unlike many Bay Area tech companies, our employees do not feel like they're being "taken along for the ride."

    Advice to Management

On site food. More communication across groups about what people are working on.

I worked at Ariosa Diagnostics as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

not recommend to friends working there until the management improve

    Cons

no more comment for the company as bad supervisor

    Advice to Management

Have terminated by supervisor because of I made a mistake ( they says ,, a ONE side story and NO investigation )

Have work in the company for almost 2 years .. never late to work and being called to work on holiday such as thanksgiving day ..

Very sad that being treated unfair in this case and terminated less than 24 hours after case happen and NO investigation such as interview other employees ,, collecting evidences or check out any CCTV video clips etc ... to proof the case .

Being contacted by HR staff to follow up the case via telephone conference but they never show up via phone calls ... very upset because of I sure that I have made nothing wrong in the case .. I hope that is not relate with the company hired new contractor employee at the same time ..

I have been working at Ariosa Diagnostics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Individual contributors or amazing to work alongside. Everyone is extremely helpful if you're willing to collaborate.

    Cons

Roche integration has been tough and business goals implemented are almost unrealistic. This has led to retention issues within the company and a loss of a lot of great technical talent/expertise. Management needs to be more transparent. Lack of communication between management and employees have resulted in many process issues.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to focus more on the growth of their employees. Do a better job at driving collaboration and communication to pursue a better cultural environment to work at.

I worked at Ariosa Diagnostics (More than a year)

    Pros

People who work at Ariosa are really passionate about the Harmony prenatal test and changing the standard of care/increasing patient outcomes (mom and baby)!

    Cons

Not the best work-life balance. The salary was not that great and there were not many opportunities for advancement which is why I left.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing!I'm sure there have been a lot of changes since the acquisition by Roche, but hopefully all is well.

I have been working at Ariosa Diagnostics full-time

    Pros

Roche has good benefits, the salary is good, the product is among best in class

    Cons

Bonuses are unattainable, they hire pharma managers that think they know what they're doing, rode along every 4-6 weeks (wow), administration is ridiculous, the upper management is not transparent

    Advice to Management

Let Roche take over, you don't know what you're doing. Also, stop hiring pharma managers, they ruin everything but pharma.

I have been working at Ariosa Diagnostics full-time

    Pros

Good work atmosphere. Encouraging environment, plenty of learning opportunities, participation in the process is encouraged. Medical / Dental / Vision plans are good.

    Cons

No 401(k) matching, stingy stock plan. Management asks or expects too much; overtime and/or extra shifts are assumed and extra work is given without consideration for work/life balance. Management is out of touch with front line employees.

I worked at Ariosa Diagnostics full-time

    Pros

Originally, the culture was the strong point of this company.

    Cons

Newly hired Pharma managers bringing pharma mentality to diagnostic world. These pieces of the puzzle do not fit.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. No one knows their territory like they do. They aren't making excuse. They are being honest. Be honest with yourselves and listen to them. Your hired them for their expertise, capitalize on their experience.
