  1. "Arista is not perfect, BUT!!"

I have been working at Arista Networks full-time for more than a year

    Pros

No organization is perfect. What Arista is accomplishing, few small companies have the nerve to attempt. An analogy that fits is; Arista is building state of the art products, while building a company around it; and interesting enough accomplishing the objective. Rapid growth is fraught with problems. The concept of always pushing the edge of creativity is appealing to the entrepreneurial types. If you enjoy... what you do you and look forward to Monday to resume the unknown, you are in the right place. I am in the right place. I am aware of the short comings, but have worked enough to understand perfection takes time, and truly is rarely achieved. If Arista is such a bad place to work, why are individuals around the world fighting to join just to be a part of the next technology wave. Maybe they see what can be, rather what is currently missing from perfection.

    Cons

We live in a mobile society driven by rewards, i.e, compensation, which is I understand being address but some urgency is needed.

    Advice to Management

The area of employee retention needs to be address.

I worked at Arista Networks full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Good product and technical support

    Cons

The worst manager I have ever worked for. Everyone is resting and investing waiting for their original shares to vest. You will make minimal money on their compensation plan. There is no support or communication. The comp plan seems good at first but then you start selling and realize they are more expensive and the only way to make any money is to price higher than competition.

    Advice to Management

Fire your middle management, change the comp plan, put some process in place that is realistic and not all email driven, filter email and stop wasting everyone's time with all sales emails.

I worked at Arista Networks full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Game changing technology in early years. Brilliant leaders and still very much motivated leaders in Ken Duda, Andy B, Jayshree U, Anshul Sadana Hit or exceed your number and everyone leaves you alone Tremendous loyalty to pre-IPO'ers (also a Con)

    Cons

Still run like a startup Only try to retain after you resign. Loyalty to a fault and causes blindspots to mgmt Many made a lot of money here since they were pre IPO, and yet they think a few RSU's will keep them there and in fact, have no idea what motivates the good people.

    Advice to Management

Get ahead of things with your good people - ask them how they are doing, what would motivate them (remember they likely made a lot of money), stop keeping people around because they were A) good in the early years and B) you've known the a long time. Dig deeper into what they've actually done!
