    Pros

Pay is good; benefits are good; extracurricular activities are nice; scheduling is somewhat lenient as long as you complete work and activities given to you

    Cons

Micromanagement is putting it lightly - write a sentence, line of code, perform a test and a report is expected to be sent along with a follow up phone call prior to the next step. Also, this is a multi-continental company, so emails/meetings are expected 24 hours a day

    Advice to Management

BACK OFF - LET YOUR PEOPLE DO THEIR WORK!

    Pros

Most departments have good leadership who work with you, mentor you and allow you to grow in the company. The global culture is positive and enabling: one can work hard, develop themselves and move up & around in the company.

    Cons

C-level drives the company very hard to achieve results, but outdated internal systems, processes and departmental silos get in the way. The result is a high percentage of busy-work and internal selling to get everyday projects done. Work/life balance suffers and high performers burn-out.

    Advice to Management

Truly invest in internal systems and modernization of processes. Look to great companies outside the gaming business for ideas and advice. Good employees will realize that they can achieve more by working smarter, not harder, and if “smart work” is not available at their current company – they migrate to companies that allow them to do so.

I worked at Aristocrat Technologies (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The company has great potential, some great people, some fantastic products, great licenses, some well-run departments/teams, it is a company that has been here for decades and will be for decades more.

    Cons

Obviously everywhere above that, I said "some" it was for a reason. Just like every other company you've worked at, there are good parts and really bad parts about Aristocrat. It all matters what division you are in and what line of the org chart your boss, his boss, and his boss report to. I've had fantastic experiences and I've had experiences that were so negative that they bordered on abusive. There is virtually no process, no standards, quality is all over the map, communication stalled or non-existent, lots of finger pointing, people throwing people under buses, people refusing to follow through or follow direction, etc. Just like the last place you worked, it can be sunshine or toxic clouds. It can be Friday happy hours or Saturday crunches. Can be great job for work you barely worked on and screamed at for stuff you did exactly as directed. Time for lunch yet? Roll the dice if you need a job. Maybe you'll hit a Big Win.

    Advice to Management

Quit picking favorites; with your teams and especially with your managers. Don't manage through negativity. Don't tell me I'm Agile than Waterfall me. It is the dawn of the new technical age. The Age of Dinosaurs is OVER. The future is about Integrations. Learn to collaborate globally within your organization, unify process and platforms on an International level or DIE! Just like everyone else is doing and not doing.

    Pros

For the most part people are friendly. The company does a great job of providing extras that make the office a great place to be. Great benefits package. Lots of opportunities to get involved in the community.

    Cons

Departments work in silos and don't communicate with each other. Management expects to receive the best from the employee without providing adequate training and support. Office politics are terrible and cause the company to lose good people.

    Advice to Management

Provide training to your employees and make sure managers follow the guidelines to get the best from your employees.

    Pros

I don't think there are any pro's besides the fact that it is located near a starbucks and applebee's. Its also pretty close to the highway so there's that. It does have a small gym but that really about it. If you land on the second floor then you got it made...free lunch....free drinks....no dress code...great ambiance and overall good moral.

    Cons

There are 2 - 3 VP's, 1 director, 2 managers per department and the departments have 3 employees so you have 6 people telling 3 actual workers what to do (i'm only slightly exaggerating here). I've actually been approached by my supervisor and manager to do and not do the same task in the same day. Oh and that's because they try to manage you from across the globe (AUS). To give you an example our finance department went from 28 people to 13 in less than 3 months it got that bad.

    Advice to Management

Why break something that was working in the past? ....and get rid of Toni Crossanis you will do better with out her....actually keep her, i would never forgive myself if she had the possibility of working for my current company.

I worked at Aristocrat Technologies full-time

    Pros

Business tries to create a fun and appreciative place to work. Outrageous trade show parties, celebration events to launch new products, and new sales milestones. Game products are cutting edge, creates a sense of pride with final deliverable. Systems has innovative products that enable the company to be competitive in the market place.

    Cons

Management is a mess. Seems every year they restructure departments, creates lack of stability. Management would be lost without their executive assistants - culture is driven by EAs not management. Double standards for how conflicts and employee relations are managed and treated. Lots of management politics in play - a lot of back stabbing and double standards . Little opportunity for advancement - inconsistent mentoring and coaching. Too many politics play in all departments to get simple projects completed in a timely manner, efforts that should take weeks drag out to be months, leaves you with a track record of not accomplishing what you set out to do. Frustrating.

    Advice to Management

Engage with the employees to be real mentors - don't make your employees seek you out. Resist the need to re-invent the business every year to "see if this will work better" - your employees would be more successful if they didn't change direct reports every 6 to 12 months.
