    I worked at Aristocrat Technologies

    Pros

The place has a good work life balance, except there is a big atmosphere revolving around proving yourself if you don't have experience. However proving yourself doesnt mean trying to improve the company yourself or showing what you can do, instead it means staying quiet until you are noticed.

    Cons

Deceptive management. You have to be a gambler or else you wont be taken seriously.

    Advice to Management

Hitting your computer doesnt make it go fastet.

I worked at Aristocrat Technologies full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

Dress code flexible.Work hours can be flexible.Treated with lunches and treats often a lot more than I have seen at other companies.

    Cons

Very demanding and stressful.People expect to work like them.Micromanaged.Sometimes managers lack in standing behind their department.Preaches work/life but don't always practice it.

    Advice to Management

Practice what you preach.Put people in managers position that really deserves it.Dont make employee feel like they are made to fail or that they have to prove themselves.

I worked at Aristocrat Technologies full-time

    Pros

    - Access to healthcare and 401K - Great team building and morale boosting activities - Good compensation and benefits

    Cons

    - Moving up in the business is a bit difficult

    Advice to Management

There are directors that have been there for years, and have the position for that reason. keep evaluating everyone there, regardless of position.

I have been working at Aristocrat Technologies full-time

    Pros

Lots of corporate events, people are generally friendly, great locations of offices with plenty of restaurants, small gyms in buildings, modern coffee machines, game rooms with beanbags chairs for relaxing (although employees are generally afraid to use these), modern food vending setups, high work ethic employees, very knowledgeable people, comp days off to make up for days worked on weekends (when the company is not...

    Cons

When traveling for company, don't be surprised when the company bends over backwards for large corporate customers at the expense of Aristocrat employees in ways such as: making coworkers share rooms with other coworkers, allowing customers to book travel for Aristocrat employees with the possibility of motel- class rooms with bunkbeds, allowing customers to ignore certificates of readiness contracts that they sign by...

I worked at Aristocrat Technologies full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

The company tries really hard to take care of the employees. There are several events to show appreciation from free cupcake hour, to a half-day annual company BBQ, to jam sessions with musician employees... We sold quality machines and I was always proud to say I worked at Aristocrat.

    Cons

While some employees leave promptly at end of day, others are so overwhelmed they have to work long hours. Some departments are known for being the first ones in and last ones out each day. These folks don't work 12 hour days because they love their desk chair. They do it because they are either understaffed or the tools they use are insufficient for their jobs. The company is currently working on new technology to improve...

    Advice to Management

I loved working at Aristocrat. I loved my job. I loved walking the casino floor, seeing our slot machines, and knowing I had participated in getting them there. I didn't quit Aristocrat. I quit my manager. My manager wasn't even a bad person. They just ran the department with a style that didn't work for me. I think Aristocrat is doing a great job. Just be cognizant of departments with high turnover and do a little research....

I have been working at Aristocrat Technologies full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I recently started working here, and so far everything from interview process to on-boarding and orientation has been phenomenal. It is as well-oiled a machine as you can expect given the complexities of a company its size. The compensation is extremely competitive and the benefits start day 1 (health/401K/FSA/etc.). It is not a micromanaged environment, and generally you are able to move at your own pace (especially...

    Cons

Some growing pains that are easily solvable. The biggest con is the time zone difference between Las Vegas and Australia, but there are strategies around it. Some other issues are that the company is growing, and with that come growing pains (outgrowing offices, new building migration, etc.).

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing (I know this is usually an "insider" posting, but I have not been told by anyone to post this).

I worked at Aristocrat Technologies full-time

    Pros

-generally nice and helpful teammates -better than average salary for Vegas -easy to transfer internally, both laterally, plus upward, as they promote a lot from within.

    Cons

** truly horrible work-life balance - NPI/ new product launch members are expected to throw your body under the train when necessary, even with faulty planning , Design and subcontractor errors. -end of quarter pushes have 6 (or more) days/wk, 10-12 (or more) hours / day manditory -the Business overloads the factory capacity, and the work gets done over the bodies of the mfg, QC and Warehouse shipping personnel...

    Advice to Management

    1) Stop dropping orders to ship that day, or the next day, onto LV MFG. Stop changing orders mid-build. 2) The US business model is screwed, with orders and factory loading at the end of the quarter, and other times too- very problematic. #1 above is a subset. Note: used games are especially troublesome to refurb at short notice. -Fixing #1 amd 2 need high-level Executive backing, as the Business has created...
