    Pros

For the most part people are friendly. The company does a great job of providing extras that make the office a great place to be. Great benefits package. Lots of opportunities to get involved in the community.

    Cons

Departments work in silos and don't communicate with each other. Management expects to receive the best from the employee without providing adequate training and support. Office politics are terrible and cause the company to lose good people.

    Advice to Management

Provide training to your employees and make sure managers follow the guidelines to get the best from your employees.

I worked at Aristocrat Technologies full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some of the people were nice. Some had the skills necessary to perform their roles.

    Cons

Out of the 10 people in my work group, I would only recommend 4 to any company looking to hire quality employees. There is no room for advancement in this company unless someone retires. Even then, a high-level position may be filled by someone with absolutely no experience in your field because ATI wants to keep the institutional knowledge from leaving and needs a way to give them a raise but cannot create the headcount in their department. Vegas management does that "headcount shuffle" so they don't have to ask Australia permission to increase resources.

The Management plays the "blame game". Employees are not given clear direction or information needed to succeed. Feedback, if given, is vague.

If you are looking to keep any skill sets up-to-date with the outside workforce, do not work here. The Casino Management Software platform is out of date, the project management process doesn't meet industry standards, and there isn't a Quality Assurance Department (although the jobs have been posted for a few years now) so you are testing your software in production.

When you think about leaving the company or are "future endeavored", contact an employment lawyer because HR will screw you over with paying out benefits.

My best advice to anyone thinking of working for this company; DON'T. If you can't find anything else, then document everything! Keep logs of all the harassment from management, coworkers, and HR. Also be warned, IT will read your emails and chat logs.

    Advice to Management

Most of the management needs to be removed. Putting people in roles they do not qualify for just to keep talent from leaving is not how you run a business. Make sure employees are cross-trained and knowledge is being shared. Those hording all the knowledge of our products are holding the business hostage and creating a toxic and clique-ish atmosphere.

Have a structured On-Boarding Process with standardized trainings for all new hires. Train them on Day 1, not months later when the training department decides to hold a training.

All Project Managers should have PMPs and go through SCRUM certification, especially the Senior PMs.

All Managers should have working experience in the department they manage.

Stop working in silos. Employee Satisfaction Surveys mean nothing if management doesn't care. The survey results are not anonymous if the results are broken out by work group.

Take sexual harassment complaints seriously. This is directed at you, HR.

    Pros

Close work between Developers and Artists, easy access to Platform team.
    Good benefits and pay.

    Cons

Clique-style management, where employees are tools to make managers look good, rather than people making games for the enjoyment of others.
Local management is easily swayed by hearsay and supposition without evidence, from both local team members as well as non-team members in Vegas and India studio branches.
Insurmountable level of tech debt in all titles inherited from design studios, not allowed to clean code, only pass the failure to whoever is next in line and hope it doesn't blow up on your watch.
Fear of new technologies and techniques anachronistic to the industry.
Minimal automation and poor QA management from Vegas studio causes very real development bottlenecks constantly over inane issues.

    Advice to Management

Treat employees as valued members of a team rather than disposable tools for your own advancement.
Create a company culture, don't just treat the office to pizza once in a blue moon and call it a win.
Listen to and support your team, make your success theirs and vice versa.

    Pros

I don't think there are any pro's besides the fact that it is located near a starbucks and applebee's. Its also pretty close to the highway so there's that. It does have a small gym but that really about it. If you land on the second floor then you got it made...free lunch....free drinks....no dress code...great ambiance and overall good moral.

    Cons

There are 2 - 3 VP's, 1 director, 2 managers per department and the departments have 3 employees so you have 6 people telling 3 actual workers what to do (i'm only slightly exaggerating here). I've actually been approached by my supervisor and manager to do and not do the same task in the same day. Oh and that's because they try to manage you from across the globe (AUS). To give you an example our finance department went from 28 people to 13 in less than 3 months it got that bad.

    Advice to Management

Why break something that was working in the past? ....and get rid of Toni Crossanis you will do better with out her....actually keep her, i would never forgive myself if she had the possibility of working for my current company.

    Pros

Most employees other than some management and some human resources are wonderful to work with.

    Cons

Some management should not be placed where they are. Performance issues should be addressed formally with clear goals to improve their performance at all levels.

    Advice to Management

Think outside of their box they seem to have climbed into.

    Pros

Great benefits, great people, lots of support, great culture in office(a lot of events, free lunches, sporting competitions), decent work/life balance, lots of potential extra paid days off depending on if you end up working or traveling for the company over the weekend, great base amount pto, very few layoffs/firings in at least the tech services department, very friendly stag with very little drama/politics(at least in tech services department)

    Cons

Long hours whenever you're assigned a project(potential of 80 hours), high turnover(quitting), lackluster employee reviews(management does not bother giving criticism unless direly needed or personally asked), poor internal documentation for products, culture of few people do a majority of the work (causing employees to have health problems), very little potential for upward movement

    Advice to Management

Find a way to more evenly divide workloads, standardize pay structures so that coworkers have the same motivation to do their jobs and have more one on ones with employee's so they can express concerns

    Pros

Business tries to create a fun and appreciative place to work. Outrageous trade show parties, celebration events to launch new products, and new sales milestones. Game products are cutting edge, creates a sense of pride with final deliverable. Systems has innovative products that enable the company to be competitive in the market place.

    Cons

Management is a mess. Seems every year they restructure departments, creates lack of stability. Management would be lost without their executive assistants - culture is driven by EAs not management. Double standards for how conflicts and employee relations are managed and treated. Lots of management politics in play - a lot of back stabbing and double standards . Little opportunity for advancement - inconsistent mentoring and coaching. Too many politics play in all departments to get simple projects completed in a timely manner, efforts that should take weeks drag out to be months, leaves you with a track record of not accomplishing what you set out to do. Frustrating.

    Advice to Management

Engage with the employees to be real mentors - don't make your employees seek you out. Resist the need to re-invent the business every year to "see if this will work better" - your employees would be more successful if they didn't change direct reports every 6 to 12 months.
