Reviews about "opportunity"
Return to all Reviews- Current Employee, more than 1 year★★★★★
Good retail experience, unstable hours & unfortunately staff are not always a first priority.
RecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Good opportunity to build multitasking skills and to learn how to work in a fast paced environment. Flexible with requesting vacation time (however this will depend on your manager too). The employee discount is pretty good as well.
Cons
Scheduling is based on how well you sell, which can be a bad thing since they don't take into consideration that those scheduled to close the store have a disadvantage since you can be there usually until an hour past close & that affects your total SPH, which later affects your weekly sales and chances are your hours will also decrease - yes, if you close once or twice a week thats no problem, but if its 4 times a week and your shifts are lets say 5-close you have a problem. Head office staff actually believe you can convince customers to spend 300+ when they come into the store with the intention of spending no more than half of that - and yes you can but realistically maybe 20% of the time. Your shifts will get cut completely or by a few hours if its slow in the store and you will be told "it's for your benefit" because you are saving your SPH. If you have rent to pay or just need a reliable job with steady hours then do not apply to Aritzia.

Pros
Opportunity for growth and development. Positive work environment. We encourage teamwork and customers are our number one priority. Through my 10+ years of working for the company, I have met and built relationships with amazing people who I enjoy working with and working for. Remuneration based on performance.
Cons
We are not the typical 9-5, Monday to Friday work environment. There are times when the job doesn't end when you are shift ends. With that said, those who work hard and want a career with the company will be inspired by the work ethic of those you work with.

Compensation is decent but needs to treat sales associates better

Discount and opportunity to learn in a fast-paced demanding environment
Cons
Short breaks and mentally taxing
- Current Employee★★★★★
Pros
Very organized, hardworking team. Lots of opportunity if you are near the Support Offices (Toronto or Vancouver) or are mobile. Fast paced environment.
Cons
Work/life balance and scheduling - there are very high expectations for management and work spills over into your everyday life. Not a good fit for a person who is not career-focused
- Current Contractor★★★★★
Pros
- You can learn a tight and focused discipline of how to analyze the market and trends. -Customer focused design and marketing - Serious business growth potential and opportunity to be part of that growth
Cons
- Like anywhere there can be challenging people, who will question your work but it will make you more precise and exacting in your projects.

Pros
Decent discount allowed after working for 10 days Fast paced and opportunity to express creativity in styling and shopping advice
Cons
Seasonal returning employee treated very poorly, no sense of managerial support or guidance Very competitive and catty amongst co-workers Dishonest
- Current Employee, less than 1 year★★★★★
Pros
- Discount - Always an opportunity to make more money; referral system can easily make you $300 - Good pay
Cons
- High sales quota - Very cliquey - Negative atmosphere - Being pushed to be overly fake to customers and each other is exhausting - Can leave work at 2 am at times - Can't make your sales quota this week? Your shifts cut down immensely.

Pros
Lots of room for movement and opportunity. Very flat level organization so you work with leaders and experts every day.
Cons
High expectations can potentially lead to being over worked.
- Former Employee, more than 1 year★★★★★
Pros
- Driven, intelligent workforce - Great brand - Fun events - There is a great opportunity for success at this company IF you play the game - This company has a great outlook in terms of product and sales. However, the cost is to their employees who are overworked, and are constantly fixing operations on the fly overtime.
Cons
- You either fit the culture and love it, or you don't match the "Aritzia image" and get squeezed out. The exception to this is in the IT teams with a very different (and much friendlier) sub-culture. - High turnover in all areas of the organization means everything is always in a state of transition, people are continually covering for others, and knowledge is constantly being lost. - Operationally, things always break down, and there is a new 5-alarm fire almost weekly requiring "all-hands on deck". - Considering the caliber of people hired, the ideas, tools, processes, and techniques they bring to Aritzia are often shutdown in favor of the existing status-quo. - Industry best practices are not followed, and often, ethically questionable decisions are made. - Extremely political environment where seniority trumps reason. - You either love it, or hate it. There doesn't seem to be a middle ground at this company.
