    Pros

People you work with are normally in the same boat so mostly good people.

    Cons

Pay is horrible and not worth the stress in your life. Go PD or get lucky with tribal or county corrections.

    Advice to Management

Pay Better, Conduct better training, keep benefits and peace officer certification

    Pros

State Benefits, A job our family can respect

    Cons

Management, conflict resolution system, culture, 12 hour shifts, disciplinary structure, location of work, HIGH expectations

    Advice to Management

Minor tweaks to our disciplinary system and conflict resolution system and this place could be a decent place to work.

I have been working at Arizona Department of Corrections full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits... lot of opportunities to move up as there are many different units one can join... Tactical support unit, K-9 unit, special security unit, criminal investigations unit, etc. Hourly pay can get up there, as long as you’re willing to put in work and time

    Cons

Starting hourly pay seems little compared to the dangers one must face, especially if one works in higher custody level yards.

I have been working at Arizona Department of Corrections full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Amazing benefits package to include medical, dental, vision, and both annual and sick leave. Amazing people. Lots of opportunities for advancement. Very stable.

    Cons

Very low pay. Like no where near reaching competitive standards at all, even with the benefits factored in. No raises ever. If you want more money, you have to promote, but luckily there are a lot of opportunities for promotion.

    Advice to Management

I know your hands are tied. Keep up the Esprit de corps and people will stay.

I have been working at Arizona Department of Corrections full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits, mostly great coworkers, Paid Time Off is abundant

    Cons

Extremely short staffed, expect the good officers to do their jobs, and the useless officers jobs.
Pay is not enough for the jobs we do.

    Advice to Management

    Treat staff better.

    Pros

    Empowerment
    Team Support
    Engaged Team
Supporive Management in IT and Deputy Director Ryan.
I cannot say enough praise and wonder things about this team of professionals. One of the best groups I've ever worked for.

    Cons

There really aren't CONs within the Central Office IT Team that I came accross.
Due to this being a Public Agency possibly funding. If you have a phenomenal business case they'll support, and help get the funding.

    Advice to Management

You are awesome, thank you for your support & encouragement.
