    Pros

It has really friendly international students who put smiles on our faces every single day. It is generally inclusive in all its activities

    Cons

The offices are open most of the time even when the university is on break which means coming to work even when you should be home relaxing

Just an exceptional place to work

I worked at Arizona State University part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Getting hours wasn't too difficult, and once you learn how to do everything, that also wasn't too hard. You make a lot of friends and ASU does a great job of trying to celebrate birthdays and maintain culture.

    Cons

Handling the money was tricky at times, especially when you were rushed throughout your shift. Sometimes people would be upset if they couldn't find something or get something they want, but you have to learn to problem solve.

    Advice to Management

Give more training to help people be successful. Recognize that often students are dealing with REAL customers/people that can often be angry - especially when paying for something. They need more support and be encouraged that senior staff has their back should a customer become unruly.

I have been working at Arizona State University full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

ASU has wonderful support services for research. The IRB is very efficient, proposal support staff are extremely receptive and effective. There are often opportunities for continuing education in various aspects of research

    Cons

Depending on who you work with, you may or may not receive the adequate support for actually conducting the research. For example, sometimes in my lab, more money is directed toward travel than toward the resources needed to collect data.

    Advice to Management

Make certain that the principal investigators are allocating funding toward the goals set out in their proposals. Obviously, this is a difficult task, but oversight is needed.
