I have been working at Arizona's Children Assocation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Convenient scheduling. Flex time. Good way to network. Work closely with DCS. Low/mod supervisor supports you. Most of the team members support one another.

    Cons

Politics in the office. Certain "supervisors" were promised positions instead of earning them. No training. A lot of required meetings that they don't give you credit for. Unachievable standards and those that achieve it falsify their billing.

    Advice to Management

Look into supervisors. There is a reason a lot of high needs case managers have come and gone. Program supervisors and clinical directors cover it up instead of fixing the problem.

I worked at Arizona's Children Assocation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible hours, good co-workers, relaxed dress code.

    Cons

Impossible productivity standards, bullying by management, long hours, no room for advancement. Harassment from supervisors that HR does nothing about. If you stand up for yourself you are "marked" by the higher ups and they will drive you to quit or fire you.

    Advice to Management

    Treat staff like people.

I worked at Arizona's Children Assocation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

AzCA has an important and much needed mission for kids and families in AZ. The upper mgmt is trying to make changes and improvements, but it's slow and there is little communication with the frontlines. There are many different depts., so there is room for growth if you want to make your way up the ladder.

    Cons

Terrible communication and no training whatsoever. Most of the HR and management are only looking to ensure grant compatibility, not quality of service. There is so much grant chasing that the mission and programs seem to change every other year, which only causes more instability with families.

    Advice to Management

Make some consistent training methods, talk to the frontlines (not program supervisors) and understand what is really happening.

    Pros

great co-workers - office staff are like family. good reputation in community, great services, good feedback from immediate supervisor, good health care coverage.

    Cons

dishonesty from upper management, they try to keep staff "in the dark," lack of communication between sites, lack of support, supervisors prefer to pass the blame instead of taking responsibility, unrealistic expectations, high stress level, constant changes in paperwork with little direction. Profit before community -- We are a necessity in a rural area but are being closed due to budget issues. It's an unfortunate reality that is hurting a lot of people.

    Advice to Management

Honesty is the best policy... some words to take to heart. This agency had a great beginning and an amazing mission, don't lose that.
