The pay could be better, but there are lots of opportunities to move up the ladder in your field.

    Pros

    Staff care about the patients
Nurses are true advocates for the patient and the families.

    Cons

Has become more business driven, decisions not focused on patients or employee satisfaction. Hiring process needs improvement, managers should be taught and held accountable to hire the person best for the job, not their best friend. Clinic wait times are too long, see people just sitting there doing nothing when should be working.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your staff and patients. Make sure people feel appreciated. Stop playing favorites when hiring people for positions. People should be hired based on skills or experiences.

    Pros

Nice place to work. Positive attitudes from most employees and great moto of "doing it for the kids." Overall, I liked it.

    Cons

Pay was not as good as other places and increases were very minimal, almost insulting, but being a non-profit organization maybe there is less money to pay out. You could however, get your eyes checked and allergies addressed for little monetary loss.

    Doesn't Recommend

    Pros

Do try to be positive and provide a welcoming orientation (hospital-wide)
    Great patients
Some of the nurses were very pleasant and helpful to new nurses.

    Cons

Many nurses act friendly and open, but then privately complain to other nurses or to the charge for petty complaints.

Very passive aggressive environment - may not be true on all floors, but in the two departments I was in, there was passive-aggressiveness and horizontal violence. Nurses given training about horizontal violence, but are not held accountable to use that training.

Some of the ICUs have a 10-12 week training program. Though it sounds good, it may not be enough for a new graduate who has never worked in an ICU-setting. Need to be realistic in abilities of new graduate nurses.

    Advice to Management

Do not allow nurses to complain to charge or nurse managers without first having made at least one or two attempts to discuss concerns with another nurse.

Be realistic in expectations of new graduates, particularly those that are new to an ICU environment.

    Pros

The benefits are good. The doctors and team members are friendly.

    Cons

New CEO has no concern for team members, she only wants to grow the company. The CEO is no longer Jonathan Bates. He was excellent!!! This should be updated in your system. It is Marcy Doderer.

    Advice to Management

Stand up for your team members!
