I have been working at Arkansas Children's Hospital full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Love working here and going on 15 years! The new CEO and her team have made some amazing changes by cleaning house of notorious lazy management and leadership. You're expected to work and produce results benefitting children!

    Cons

We still have some negative people left over from the previous CEO's regime.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing a great job!!! We are moving ahead with the future and not stuck in the past!

I worked at Arkansas Children's Hospital full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You help kids everyday. Nice co-workers. Benefits are ok. You stay busy everyday. I can't really think of anything else but it made me say at least 20 words.

    Cons

Culture has declined markedly in the last few years as the regime from Texas has taken control. Many long time faithful employees who were doing a good job where shown the door to make room for the CEOs cronies. Favoritism is rampant.

These problems luckily haven't gone unnoticed by those that matter. I have spoken to 2 donors in the last few weeks - one prominent - who told me they are dissatisfied with the way ACH is being run and plan to quit donating any more money until the executive suite on the 3rd floor is cleaned out by the board of directors.

    Advice to Management

Resign before you do anymore damage and before the board wises up to your corruption.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Arkansas Children's Hospital full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The ACH mission is one of the most meaningful missions you can find. It is something to believe in with all of your heart.

    Cons

ACH management has gotten too far away from the mission and the compassion that used to be key - care, love and hope are no longer cornerstones. Ethics are being skirted in the name of better business. The rise of LONG-TERM employees leaving (both voluntary and involuntary) is evidence of major problems.

    Advice to Management

    It comes from the top.

I worked at Arkansas Children's Hospital full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of support staff, lower patient ratios, real shared governance, lots of retention efforts. Medical and disability benefits for individuals seem nice.

    Cons

Starting pay and raises are not competitive for RNs. Caps at 2% raise each year. 401K match is mediocre.

I have been working at Arkansas Children's Hospital full-time

    Pros

Arkansas Children's Hospital is a really great organization that does really amazing work. It's exciting knowing that, no what your position, you're contributing to its mission to make children happy and healthy.

    Cons

Departments are very disconnected, and there's not much sense of teamwork between them. There's also a lack of communication between different areas and a lack of understanding about departments' functions.

    Advice to Management

I would say to do more to help your employees recognize the importance of the work they do and to try to facilitate better inter-departmental relationships.
