I worked at Arla Foods UK full-time

    Pros

No pros really, big canteen, but usually overcrowded.

    Cons

There is a workplace bullying culture at NCD Stourton in Leeds, especially among gap agency employees.Bullies are encouraged by management. Health and safety are an issue there too.Avoid working there at any cost.

    Advice to Management

Stop encouraging and taking side of the bullies, rednecks ,etc, stop favouring people who always complain about others..Stop rotating employees every week.Give lockers to agency employees.

    Pros

If you have the drive and enthusiasm with a can do attitude the possibilities are huge in a global company.
Great support for development not just from external courses, there is great internal knowledge with a willingness to share.
Development is also rounded and not limited to equipment, personal development is also important.
Pay for Performance - those who perform are rewarded at pay review
    Great team spirit.
Secure employment - 2 recessions milk continued to sell
    Colleague bus from Aylesbury

    Cons

High turnover of operational colleagues is difficult when running complex automation systems.
Quite a distance to town centre and the drive across Aylesbury is a nightmare.

    Advice to Management

Time to plan a realistic day that is achievable.
Implement a robust new starter training plan before expecting new starters to run complex machines.

I have been working at Arla Foods UK full-time

    Pros

Worked for Arla for 3 years and find it to have a great culture. Unique as a farmer owned cooperative and this underpins everything the business does. Ambitious global growth plans that feel achievable with a lot of money spent on marketing to support it. Forward thinking business both commercially but also on the sites where there best in class Lean Manufacturing / thinking. Automated facilities are very impressive whether its milk, cheese or butter production. Lots of opportunities to develop in the supply chain with many of the managers/directors having worked their way up. Work / life balance can be demanding in some site based roles given the 24/7 nature of the business, but office roles definitely have a good balance and culture.

    Cons

Doesn't always act like the multi-billion pound global business it actually is. Senior leadership is mostly Danish which doesn't reflect the global/diverse business it claims to be. Big investment in certain areas, other parts quite under-invested so need to get the balance right.

I have been working at Arla Foods UK full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good company to work for, loads of opportunities for personal /career growth and development, Friendly staff and management, good pay rate. if you are smart enough the Arla system will work for you (you will not be spoon fed) and if you have little patience, well then you will keep hopping from job to job especially in the short shelf life industry.

    Cons

It will make a huge difference not to work on Christmas day and on New Year's day, it is one thing that could potentially drive me out.( Top management need to address this).

Our machines need regular servicing(Maintenance),otherwise when they fall apart when we need them the most, it is most frustrating to the operators and engineering team because they are expected to do 'MAGIC'. Proper maintenance schedule needs to be put in place and you will see operators and engineering work hand in hand to achieve more greatness (its not Rocket science)

Bad Milk Planning is causing problems across various departments- dispatch, production, process and milk intake are pressured to keep things operating when there is no place for the milk to go.

Stop imposing Continuous Improvement Projects on everyone, its not everyone who likes it.it should be optional rather than tied in to your Dialogues.( its unfair)

    Advice to Management

Keep the Pros and improve on the Cons as above.
