      Pros

The pay was better than I thought it would be, and they hired me quickly.

      Cons

It was difficult being a long-term substitute teacher: lots of kids with behavioral issues, and I had little understanding of the subject matter.

        Pros

Hours allow you to go to school, good for people who want part time, kids are fun, staff for most part are good and enjoy children

        Cons

Under staffed, low starting pay, with 0 holiday pay ( only get paid for snow days) while they close almost 2 weeks In December , they hire people who don’t enjoy kids and are vocal about it. Hiring people who don’t speak much English and don’t talk or interact with children or staff. Yearly raises aren’t much at all. Health benefits cost too much unless you work over 30 hours which they won’t allow you to do. They don’t seem to value staff that I’ve been there for a while.

                    Business Outlook

                    Pros

Arlington offers high pay relative to other areas in Virginia, and there is a lot of teacher professional development opportunities. School admin is supportive for staff and students.

                    Cons

Coming from a state where teacher pay was much higher and union advocacy was a huge part of the job, it has been a shock to see how underrepresented the career of teaching is even in a highly affluent area such as Arlington.

                        Pros

The pay, I think, is better than most teaching positions across the country. Most of the kids/families are great--just depends on your school.

                        Cons

Typical dysfunction in the higher levels of the county. Out of touch with day-to-day. Principals and teachers pushed too hard imo. Need more support.

Gave two interviews recently and got a feedback that I wasn’t able to explain my role as effectively, because of which I won’t be able to transition as fast into a fast-paced environment. I have worked in one small firm and one small-mid firm, and I personally feel I am ready to take up more responsibilities and move to a bigger firm for more exposure. Not sure how else I can explain my roles effectively, even after walking them through everything, how am I supposed to utilise this feedback?

Im really interested in applying for Walmart but I'm not interested in the bs that comes along with it. Especially when nowadays the difference between poverty & not living on the streets is a full-time job (If you're lucky) 🥴🥴
