    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Arlington Public Schools full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good pay. Job satisfaction largely dependent on immediate colleagues (co-teachers, department chairs, etc.) and school administration. You work with people who care about kids and education.

    Cons

Lots of county meetings, one after school every Wednesday. Then daily school meetings during planning time (at our school, not every Arlington school). No time/energy to invest in what makes the job meaningful (meeting with students after school, planning, swapping ideas with colleagues, giving good feedback on assignments). Job satisfaction largely dependent on school-level administration and immediate colleagues. Culture of workaholism.
