    Pros

Good employee discounts on clothes. Colleagues are fun to work with

    Cons

Everything must be perfect and management usually expects and demands more to what your responsibilities are

I worked at Armani Exchange full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

You work for Giorgio Armani corporation, which looks good on a resumé.

Some decent discounts, but not nearly as good as they used to be.

Opportunity to work in a higher-end sales environment and learn how to sell. Also the potential to meet and network with some really great clients.

Some really knowledgeable and overall great DM and RMs.

    Cons

Company struggling (to put it nicely) to identify what they want to be the past 4 years. Particularly in women's. Favorite memory last year: on conference call, with the merchandising and buying departments at home office and asked "who is our target female client?" And got laughter and "we have no idea" as a response. In a struggling high end retail industry, that's a bit of a problem.

On the same topic, they're trying to make it higher end, raise the price point, and kind of shed that Jersey Shore image from 10 years ago, which makes sense. But the product wasn't nearly inspiring or unique enough to justify an the higher prices. The only product that sold consistently was the casual logo product, surprise surprise.

Salaried managers work way too many hours to attempt to achieve high merchandising standards and achieve payroll.

No opportunity for a raise or performance review the last 4 years I worked there. Store bonus structure was rarely, rarely attainable.

Some really poor communication from home office.

The entire POS system was "upgraded" last year and was a nightmare of a hot mess...closing takes forever, you have to manually scan in shipment, there used to be 3 steps to do an outlet transfer, with the upgrade it's seriously like 12. Also stores were getting inconsistent size runs, replenishment was inconsistent as well. Hopefully it has improved now but there was little or no improvement after 8 months.

Stores are closing like crazy....never a good sign when your original Soho location closes permanently.

    Advice to Management

Figure out what you want to be and offer clothing selections with some actual style and excitement. Create out some marketing that isn't yawn-inducing. Figure out the POS systems. Performance reviews would be nice.

There were enough positives for me to stay 5+ years, but I didn't fully realize until after I left how many challenges this company (and therefore, you) faces on a daily basis. It's not like that everywhere.

I worked at Armani Exchange part-time

    Pros

The schedule allowed me to go to school full time and to take classes during any time of the day.

    Cons

Some managers don't know what they're doing. I'm surprised they were managers to begin with.

    Advice to Management

Filter managers. Make sure they know what they're doing.

    Pros

Build social skills, potential growth in company, commission, can learn a lot, better than your average retail job, flexible hours, employee discount.

    Cons

Sales turn associates against each other, get out late, you will not get a raise unless you get a promotion.

    Advice to Management

Provide better training, provide better pay rates.

I worked at Armani Exchange full-time

    Pros

Discount is decent, used to be way better. Before it was 75% discount, now it's 60 off only a couple thing as the rest is 40%

    Cons

Management never listens, they push sales, don't care about people, assistant managers let power get to their heads

    Advice to Management

    Actually be good managers
