    Pros

Big company. Great benefits. Company car, laptop, printer, credit card, gas card. Flexible schedule, pretty good pay.

    Cons

Top heavy. Too many managers and too much red tape to get anything accomplished. Field reps are not empowered and company is run from inside out. Field reps ideas and needs fall on deaf ears. They fail to pay their loyal long standing employees average to above average for their positions. Other manufacturers trust Armstrong's training but know they can recruit because of the lack of salary they pay. So many conference...

    Advice to Management

Empower your sales people to actually sell. Pay your loyal employees more so you can keep good people instead of bringing in new people and re-training. Stop looking at your spreadsheet and listen to the people in each region as to what they need. The channels are not working. No one knows what is going on in each and no one is working together for a common goal. Pay commissions.

I worked at Armstrong World Industries full-time

    Pros

The pay is good for the area. Work/Life balance is good with the ability to flex your schedule to meet personal needs.

    Cons

Since being bought out by TPG, it is a different company with no respect for individuals below the 3rd tier of management. Employees are under appreciated, creating a toxic environment where many employees are disgruntled. I've heard management say 'Let the Buyer Beware' which is totally against what Armstrong says it stands for. Borderline un-ethical decisions are being made. Management has no problem telling you...

    Advice to Management

Value your employees, they are the company's life blood. Ask yourself why so many are leaving.

I have been working at Armstrong World Industries full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

good pay structure, shift pattern gives plenty of time off, excellent xmas bonus, people on shop floor good to work with, long standing employer with a history of looking after employees

    Cons

physical working conditions poor, very dusty, also too hot in summer and too cold in winter, needs better communication from top to bottom, some of current management seem to be treading water while others simply not up to job, now people ae feeling unappreciated, personnel reduction has been too drastic meaning now the process is struggling to cope, very little chance of career progression

    Advice to Management

start communicating again, experienced operators need to be utilised more to take advantage of knowledge and experience, middle level of management none existant, needs re-establishing
