I have been working at Armstrong World Industries full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Great name brand and strong market position for products. Company has been around for a long time, and is well-established leader in the industry. Pay and benefits are at or above average for company size.

    Cons

Values used to mean a lot, but politics and managing up have completely taken over the culture. Crazy times currently as the company is splitting into two separate companies - ceilings and flooring. Both "new" companies will be ripe for a takeover - either by competition or private equity. It's crazy right now with the amount of change and uncertainty going on. If you're someone who likes to shake things up and can...

I worked at Armstrong World Industries

    Pros

Excellent pay and benefits for the work. Great communication between employees and management.

    Cons

If you have low seniority it will take years to move up without being rolled off of your position. When production is low you have to stay home and draw temperary unemployment. Alot of the people that have high seniority at this plant are some of the most laziest people that I have ever came across in my life and they don't take pride in their work. I think it is sad that they take their jobs for granted which is ridiculous...

I worked at Armstrong World Industries full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Decent pay and benefits. On paper it looks and sounds good.

    Cons

Treated less than human. Discriminatory to single parent households. Long work schedules that don't allow for emotions or feelings that may get in the way, contributing to the pandemic of substance abuse and breakdown of the human spirit. This is not as it claims to be "a healing company" it is quite the opposite.

    Advice to Management

Emotions are a human condition. To say that this is a business and to see people as other than your very own being is disturbing on all levels.
