    Pros

My particular department is well-led and organized and efficient. AAFES does a great job at developing talent and promoting from within. Most of the people I work with have held several jobs within the company. Another noticeable attribute is how many people have been here for 8-, 10, 15-plus year. I take that as a very good sign.

    Cons

As you'd expect with government, it is very, very bureaucratic, which can be really frustrating and slow-moving. Getting more and more top-heavy -- a lot of new positions being created at the VP/exec level.

    Pros

Very professional and supportive management and a great sense of camaraderie with peers .

    Cons

The grind. Heavy workload, responsibility and limited resources. No foreseeable opportunities for advancement, especially when the drawdown was happening. May change as we build up our military again.

    Advice to Management

Can you come to my current company?! You were great!

    Pros

Very supportive boss and team. I learned so many skills from Leslie Petersen at Fort huachuca. It was able to open up a whole new world for me to further myself in helping others

    Cons

Not enough full time positions. Pay scale is on the low end. Smaller facilities did not get the same resources as bigger stores.

I have been working at Army and Air Force Exchange part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Easy to work with others, people are very nice. Hours aren't crazy long,

    Cons

Management can be a little bit petty, however if you do what you are supposed to do, you shouldn't worry. The customers are very hasty and can be very rude. SOME Managers need more training, because they like to make up their own rules, which makes it hard for everyone to stay on the same page.

    Advice to Management

To be more fair to all employees, so that everyone has the equal opportunities to work. Cut out the pettiness and the favoritism. More training on how to approach associates in the right manner, and not be smart and make their employees feel small minded.
