I worked at Army and Air Force Exchange (More than a year)

    Pros

Allowed me to have an ID card and SOFA status while completing higher level education. AAFES treats its employees well -- hard to get fired. The Job was also flexible -- allowing me to travel while living OCONUS.

    Cons

There is no real room for advancement opportunity within the company. Many colleagues were older individuals that were adverse to change of procedure -- no matter how good the idea was.

    Advice to Management

Management should reevaluate supervisors. Many supervisors have too much clout and job security, which allows them to slack off and misbehave during work.

"Love my job.... I've been working here for over three years as an intermittent Sr sales associate."

    Pros

    ID card with sofa status
    Best Customers in the world
Hours allow for a social life
Great for housewives who just want to work 4 hours of the day or students

    Cons

    Niedrige Moral

    Morale is really low
    No room for advancement
    No benefits
Little to No recognition for personal/professional achievement
Refusal to hire reg part time or full time employees
Temporary Employees that replace the reg part and full time employees don't care as much about the goals, values, and mission of the exchange.
Individuals do not feel like part of a team because of the shrinkage of the workforce there is too much work for the people that are left, this causes tension between associates and managers/ reg part time and full time workers.

    Advice to Management

Replacing regular part time associates with temporary workers is not working! Temporary associates rarely care enough to contribute to the Exchange's mission, goals, and values.

    Pros

It gives you a I'd so your are able to stay in Germany with out a work visa, and it allows you to buy tax free goods

    Cons

It is not a bad place to work. But they do not pay a living wage, and they are cutting a lot of the part time regular and full time regular jobs

    Advice to Management

    Hört auf mit dem Stellenabbau

    Stop cutting positions
