I have been working at AroundCampus as an intern

    Pros

    - Very easy and straightforward interview (traditional behavioral questions)

    Cons

    - Extremely low pay ($3.50 an hour)
    - High cost for employee to drive around all day
    - You are literally just soliciting companies all day long

    Advice to Management

First off, raise the pay. It is so inconsiderate to pay the interns $3.50/hour and also not reimburse them for gas or food. Secondly, make this internship worth while. As interns, their responsibility is just to solicit companies. In addition, the companies at the "career fair or networking event" in Chapel Hill are not large companies. They are not reputable enough which doesn't allow any growth for the interns.

I worked at AroundCampus (Less than a year)

    Pros

Strong training program for an internship. Did a good job at explaining the sales process, and you get to connect with many other salesmen, management, and prospective employers who come from all over the country to the same training conference

    Cons

Did not prepare me for an excessive amount of cold calling. Their products are outdated, and businesses understand that as well. Management expects you to be extremely pushy, and they train you to not accept no as an answer. At times, I felt uncomfortable being forced to go back to a business that respectfully declined our service. Unreasonable sales goals and expectations.

I worked at AroundCampus as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

All expenses paid trip to North Carolina for training seminar.

    Cons

They expect a lot from the interns and have to realize planner ad sales are decreasing tremendously. They have to give a better pay.

    Advice to Management

Consider becoming a media agency. Digital spaces are growing quickly and that is where businesses will benefit immensely.

I worked at AroundCampus as an intern

    Pros

Very fun training in Chapel Hill NC.

    Cons

Very unorganized when it comes to pay, and keeping up with commission. They have very many past accounts that are not willing to renew because they were unhappy with the service. The managers don't care after the internship is over even if the businesses are contacting you the intern with concerns or questions.

    - based off of market you work in, internship can go really well and you can make a lot of money, or you have a bad market and don't make anything

    Advice to Management

    - focus less on sales pitch script at training and make training more realistic
